Well, all will be fine because the Hawks are all in on Suter.
All they have to do is have him sign on the line.
All they have to do is have him sign on the line.
I'm still of the belief that having a strong group of defensemen is more valuable than an elite goalie.
Last five teams/goalies to win the Cup:
Bruins w/ Tim Thomas
Hawks w/ Niemi
Penguins w/ Fleury
Red Wings w/ Osgood
Ducks w/ Giguere
Anyone ready to put those guys in the Hall of Fame? Didn't think so.
The strong group of defenseman has to be coupled with forwards who can execute a scheme that isn't so one-and-done. Until they have that, the perpetual smaller PMDs they bring in will continue to be raped in the D zone.
More of a puck-possession game, you mean?
When the Hawks were on top of their game this year, I thought they did that rather well.
Obviously that didn't include the playoffs.
2 soft goals and a non-existant powerplay
Columbus:shrug:Come up with even a mediocre powerplay -you'd have seen a big improvement in the standings...
Interesting thoughts about Crawford in here- which of course begs the question... - who in the hell do you expect to want him?

When you don't reach your goal, which is to win the Stanley Cup, it's a big disappointment," Bowman said Wednesday before meeting with players on locker cleanout day at United Center. "I can speak for myself as well as the organization that we set out every year to win the Stanley Cup and we didn't do that this year. So it's a disappointment ... clearly. [But] I think you have to look at the whole season, not just the ending....
["Ultimately, [the loss to Phoenix] is what we're focused on right now, because it's so fresh in our minds and we didn't reach our goal, but we did have a lot of good things that happened this year," Bowman said. "Getting 100 points in a very tough division, we saw some young players emerge and I think the future's very bright for our organization. Sitting here right now and not playing past the end of April is not an excitement, but I think if you look at the full season there's a lot of things to be hopeful for as we prepare for next year."
There's stress and pressure in the 1st round because if you don't come out of the 1st round it devalues everything you've done all year. Everything you've done all year...
We should probably keep roster projections and roster wants in the offseason thread that is stickied. It makes sense to keep it there.
In the article (and presser), Bowman stated:
Today, St. Louis Blues's coach Hitchcock said:
So, is Bowman's quotes that I bolded "wagging the dog?" How do you feel about it? Is he trying to Wizard of Oz the fans?
There is a lot that needs to be improved.
1) Krueger should not be on the PP as much
2) Pretty much anyone that replaces Bruno will make the PP better
3) 2nd line center not named Kane (Jokinen)
4) not a elite type goalie, but someone that can be reliable.
5) a skilled player who also isnt a pussy (see # 3 jokinen)
6) 1 solid d man
I have always stated that if you do NOT win a championship the season was a failure. The whole goal is a title, there is nothing less that is acceptable. He should have stated that "we as an ogranization came up short and we need to work on the variables that caused us to lose in the 2nd round"
I am somewhat in accordance. Granted, I never had the hopes of Melrose, but I did expect/want a second round appearance. To me, that was improvement enough I could live with.
