Johns is at the best university in the world, who could blame him?

Certainly not this guy. He will graduate with a good degree and still have the chance to have a great NHL career. Win-win scenario for the young man.

I don't follow college hockey all that closely but it does seem like Notre Dame has been pretty good in the last few seasons, and no doubt that Johns has been a big part of that.

I saw a quote from him somewhere that read something like Johns said he wanted to "fulfill his commitment" to the Notre Dame hockey program. Probably wants to deliver a championship as well. Don't blame him at well.

And from many reports, he stood out quite well at the Blackhawks Prospect Camp.

I am so excited for Johns it's ridiculous. Just sucks I'm gonna have to wait another year. It's good for him to spend another year in college hockey though. Always respect guys that graduate.

It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that he could jump straight to the Hawks at the end of the next season, once he's done with college. Marcus Kruger bypassed Rockford (not a college player but the point remains), as did Drew LeBlanc.

Prospect Shawn Lalonde turned down the Hawks qualifying offer ...

From @ChrisBlock on Twitter:

Shawn Lalonde #Blackhawks tenure came to an end today when he signed w/ Berlin Polar Bears in Germany. Blueliner declined qualifying offer.

OK? I didn't say otherwise, but maybe you were referring to Frankie.

Bowman could have gave in when we all thought Bickell was hot garbage, wanted Bolland gone, Kaner gone, etc. etc. Drafted Shaw and Saad and sent them through the pipeline.

All I'm saying is, for as much bashing as Stan and Q get on here, they've done a hell of a job in constructing the roster, and responding to adversity.

I'll admit that I was talking like that about Quinneville. . . and I imagine that it kind of goes without saying at this point ... I mean you can't argue with the results those guys have achieved.

Consider the history of the team, this period has been the most successful the team has ever been. That's pretty much it - full stop, end of story.

The one thing I really am not impressed by is when a Chicago team has any success at all - and you saw it with the Bears in the 80's, and the Bulls in the 90's -is that the local news try to turn things into a soap opera. It isn't and that sort of level of 'involvement' is ... well -not sure what it is - but it is not relevant to the sports involved.

That's true. I'd like to see him in a Blackhawks uniform ASAP. He can deliver a big hit without being stupid. Good defender.

Toews says it would be hard to find a reason to love Chicago and that there is no better place to play hockey. (Paraphrasing, or maybe those are his exact words, I'd have to double check)

Bowmans big deadline move this year will be bringing TT into the fold.

For a coach who isn't even giving Pirri and decent crack, I wonder how long Q will want TT playing on the second line.......

Really hoping that you meant leave and not love.

from Tribune article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...s-blackhawks-chicago-20130925,0,7822579.story

"With forwards Drew LeBlanc, Terry Broadhurst, Phillip Danault, Byron Froese, Kyle Beach, Brad Mills and Maxim Shalunov and goaltender Antti Raanta all headed for Rockford of the AHL and NHL veterans Theo Peckham and Brad Winchester on waivers, 15 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders will be left when the Hawks hit the ice for Wednesday's practice.

Coach Joel Quenneville said Monday that the Hawks expect to carry 23 on the roster for opening night Oct. 1 against the Capitals. That means prospects Michael Kostka, Ryan Stanton, Jimmy Hayes, Jeremy Morin, Joakim Nordstrom, Brandon Pirri and Ben Smith are vying for four spots."

Why was everyone posting that Pirri is going to be our 2nd line center this year? He might be going back to Rockford.

If Pirri goes back to Rockford, who's the 2C?

Someone who isn't on the verge of not making the roster- Handzus, Kruger, Sharp, I think I've seen Bickell play center before, but I might be wrong. I didn't used to pay much attention to him before last season.

What I don't get is why posters here keep making him out to be the star of the future. It reminds me of how Ben Gordon gets brought up in almost every thread in the Bulls forum.

I don't think anyone has praised Pirri so... Except Martini perhaps.

And Pirri's likely not making the roster spot is suite overblown. The team isn't keeping 2 inactive D men likely, so it's really Pirri has a 1/4 shot of forwards to make the team. And being the only center of that unit... It's not a stretch he's easily ahead of Hayes still who isn't demonstrating a lot of consistency, normal still for a big Guy though.
