I'm totally with you on this one Iago but I really don't think that Beach is going to get his crack this year. I'm still thinking 1 year in the AHL to teach him how to be a pro and then look to get on the roster next year. I really think it would be in his and the teams best interest, but i've been wrong before.

Oh, I agree with you; he'd have to be really special during camp. Which, in my opinion, is not likely. I'm was responding to others who think it's a goalie's job to keep forwards from losing their cool.

Ohh I know, and I was just agreeing with your assessment of goalies not patroling the locker room.

Exactly right. As an aside, kinda, I am still baffled Gillis/AVN named Loungo captain. While he may be an awesome locker room presence with amazing leadership skills, a goalie, in my opinion, has no place holding the official "C" (as it's technically in the rules) nor be able to fulfill the responsibilities as he's never on the bench.

Edit: I like the idea of Sharpie in this role - as I trust he has a way that can get the point across that wouldn't be detrimental to Beach.

The Luongo thing is a little weird; I wasn't aware that a team could make a goalie a C or an A - mainly because their main role on the ice is to be the only ones that are supposed to interact with the on-ice officials.

(An aside - which is something the team I played on down here had zero concept of - for them it was a status symbol - and naturally my team basically sucked .... no coaching, no idea what playing a position was, no clue what the box is for in penalty killing - in fact no clue what penalty killing was - as the dips used to try playing as if it was even strength --- which basically meant everyone on the ice following the puck - but me. Hell we even had a goalie that would jump to block pucks going about 2 or 3 feet over the crossbar .... (iow -clearly not on net) .... it was positively bizarre) :p

Turco's save percentage is actually better than Niemi's. He had a crap defense in front of him too. So let's give the guy a few games under his belt. Before we start saying the signing wasn't worth losing Niemi.

Other than Niemi all the playes that carried the load and led us to the cup are still on the team... and we have a very capable and possibly better replacement for Niemi. Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Hossa, Sharp, Hammer, Campbell, Bolland, and Brouwer... find a team with that kind of talent and get back to me. There are teams close to us in talent now that we are not as deep but we are as good as it gets as far as top line talent.
Dont forget Kopecky :shifty:

False...once we sign another D-Man, we wont have money for his 1 mil+ salary

Yep.
Horrible defense, but put up basically equal numbers.
