I can't imagine he would be. He could work into it but you can't believe that we signed Turco with the idea of him backing up Crawford, you might as well have just used Toivanen in that situation.

I'd imagine you have seen Crawford quite a bit in Rockford...

What do you say is his achilles heel?

What would you say he is strongest at?

Well TBO lets see if I can answer this. I have seen him play 80+ games and I would have to say that his biggest issue is probably his speed getting up off the ice. He doesn't move exceedingly quickly from post to post either but at worst he is league average in that area. He handles the puck really well but has had a tendancy to make some mistakes in the process of playing it (I.E. Marty Turco).

In the middle as good news/bad news is that he is a guy that can get fired up a bit. He won't take shit from opposng players and will get in peoples grills if he feels he is being run. I am honestly surprised that I havn't seen him in a fight in his 3 years in Rockford. Crawf could handle himself well in a goalie fight(hockey unicorn) for sure. WIth that comes a tendancy to get a bit flustered. He has improved on this but he does tend to get pissed when things start going really down hill. MOstly he expects more out of himself but he will let his D know it isn't holding up their part of the bargain. I personally like the trait in a goalie.

Upside. He may not be as athletic as Niemi, but the way he plays makes it so he doesn't have to be. He is great at controlling/not allowing rebounds. His positioning is outstanding, resulting in less need for spectacular saves. He handles the puck very well. He is also athletic enough to be able to make the spectacular save when it needs to be made.

Basically, get ready to see a guy that is the anti-Niemi (I booooo myself). The 2 couldn't be more different in just about every aspect of their game other than both having tools that can make them successful. I just hope Crawf can prove me right in being behind the guy from the start.

Crawford is going to be fine, he uses his big body to make the saves, cant wait to see him get his chance to play
