Sharp to FLA discussion according to @HockeyRandT. They are a rumors website but they are usually pretty accurate.

Dream trade: Sharp + Oduya for Campbell (Half Salary retained) and FLA's 2015 1st

That is a dream. I think Dale Tallon is fully versed on what a can't miss kid can do for an organization.....no way he lets go of that pick as long as they have a shot at getting McDavid.

1) With the moves he's making Tallon is not looking to finish in the lottery

2) As stated in my other post: Typically a first round pick trade would have some type of protection that is gets pushed back to 2016 if it ends up being a top-5 pick in 2015.

This from a press conference today in Florida:

Tallon reiterated his desire to trade some young assets for a goal-scoring forward.

That's Panthers GM Dale Tallon, FYI.

I'd be stunned. Have a hard time anyone would be willing to take on that contract because of the recapture penalties.

Not to mention he's irreplaceable in the lineup and in actuality it's not a cap savings considering what he brings to the rink every game.

What moves? Jokinen and Bolland? Did I miss something? Hardly a game shifter.

And about this protection thing....I don't know this for certain but isn't that an NBA thing? I don't remember anyone using that in the NHL or if they can.

Teams are allowed to protect their draft pick and defer it for a year (or whatever stipulation is put in). I believe the Vanek/Sabres/Isles trade earlier this year had a protected first rounder that the Isles made a decision on if it was in the top 10 this year.

They're not protected per se, but can be conditional. They can even be made optional (1st round selection in an upcoming draft or years beyond) elected by one GM by an agreed upon deadline.

If Sharp is indeed moved prior to this season, I wonder if Stan waits until after the convention. It sure would be an unpopular move with possible backlash? Whatcha think?

There would certainly be some backlash there but I think if the right deal was presented tomorrow, he'd take it.

This is another part of why it was so aggravating to see a guy like Morin get scratched all the time last season. Now I'm not saying Morin WILL turn into Patrick Sharp 2.0. But there really isn't anyone else in the system that's more likely to take that spot than Morin. If you'd played him more last season, perhaps his development would've been further along and moving Sharp wouldn't leave such a gaping hole in the Top 6. Now? Oof.

If Stan is that afraid of fans reacting to deals, then we may have the wrong man for the job.

Gawd, don't remind me....and for what? To see Bollig make a fool of himself for 3 minutes a game? Then they couldn't get rid of him fast enough...not exactly Q's finest moment.

My bad. I lost my head for a bit. :(
Nothing a little lasanga won't fix... :D

But I do see your point. I guess its not a bad thing for an organization to want good PR, but I'd like to think winning cures all that.

PR and controlling it is McD's wheelhouse.

Lasagna cures all!
