What's the general consensus on Bishop? I'd say he's effective but I'd stop short of saying he's good. Even though they restricted the size of the goalie equipment last year, goalie equipment is still massive. So then you take Bishop, who's 6'7" it's understandable why he'd be effective. But for me, to rise to the level of being "good" I'd want it to be more about being a massive human wearing massive equipment.

But yeah, Ben Bishop is one of the more frustrating goalies to watch your team play against since he's very effective.

I think Bishop needs to match his numbers from last season for another year or two to prove that the 2013-14 season wasn't a fluke. Heard his name for awhile as a potential top goalie in this league. Now the rest of the players will have tape on him, though. How he adjusts will determine how people view him in the future.

I guess I'd call him "above average" right now.

I haven't seen a lot of him but....maybe it's his huge size but he just looks slow to me both post to post and going from his knees to his feet. But he manages to get in front of shots, so he must be doing something right.

1. Yes salary is always important when grading players...especially in a capped league like the NHL.

2. The only two goalies I'd take ahead of Crawford by default are Quick and Henrik.

3. You always present this doom and gloom scenario, as "if Crawford was on an average team" or "if Toews gets hurt tomorrow" but it could be just as easily tomorrow using your logic that Doughty tears his ACL or gets injured as well and Quick all of a sudden has a below average d in front of him.

Face it, the reason Minny, Colorado and St. Louis made moves was to catch up with the Kings and Blackhawks. They've done well addressing needs, and the Blackhawks addressed theirs as well. Time will tell if the address was adequate for Chicago.

If the only 2 goalies you would take over Crawford are Quick and henrik than you have some learning to do about this sport. maybe look at other games that are not blackhawks games. but no. he isn't the 3rd best goalie. that is crazy talk.

I'll admit I don't watch much hockey outside of the WC.

I'd love to watch more EC hockey, but without the Blackhawks, the NHL doesn't really float my boat.

haha I don't think I even put Crawford in the top 10. as for Trade/FA I was thinking something around a deal with Chicago-Jackets could work with Anisimov and Sharp. the Jackets could really use Sharp and just about guarantee a top 3 metro spot, while anisimov is young, and is on a couple more years that can be a good 2C, plus it gives the Hawks cap relief. something like Sharp for Anisimov and a mid prospect like Prout.

Sharp to FLA discussion according to @HockeyRandT. They are a rumors website but they are usually pretty accurate.

Dream trade: Sharp + Oduya for Campbell (Half Salary retained) and FLA's 2015 1st

Connor McDavid could fix our 2C woes no? Could Florida potentially suck that bad? Pipe dream I know.

Yeah no. Typically a first round pick trade would have some type of protection that is gets pushed back to 2016 if it ends up being a top-5 pick in 2015.

talk about buzzkill

On the bright side (of the hypothetical scenario) 2015 is supposed to be a very deep draft beyond McDavid and Eichel. So even if the FLA pick is, say, 12-15, youre still getting a hell of a player.
