Meh, Hawks are going to sign 2 guys with a Conn Smythe trophy and a pair of Stanley Cup rings apiece. I ain't mad.

As you shouldnt be. If Kesler wasnt coming, the Hawks wernt doing **** all today, end of. Thank the idiot owners for demanding a salary cap. If there wasnt a cap the Hawks would have never lost since 2010. I am fine with doing little and focusing on the youngsters to learn a role with the big club. Many of which deserve a shot.

This team already made their huge splash with Hossa. If they can get T/K resigned in a realistic ballpark, this team is a Cup contender for the next five years.

Exactly. I've always maintained that the best route to sustained success in the salary cap era is continued development of your draft picks, particularly those still on entry-level deals. I believe Saad and Leddy were both on ELCs when they won the cup in 2013. Perhaps the next one comes with some combination of Teuvo/Johns/Clendening/someone else

i love the optimisim. teams are getting better. the chances of winning the cup are going to continue to go down if this shift of power is all in the west. the difference between an 8th seed and a 1st seed will become more and more smaller making each round very difficult especially when you are top heavy without a 2c. we can be arrogant about "wellz we got guyszz with teh ringszz" it means nothing. that is the past.
