My faith has been somewhat restored in the judicial system...

CHICAGO -- Jurors deliberating in the corruption retrial of Rod Blagojevich told a judge Monday they have reached a verdict on 18 of the 20 counts against the ousted Illinois governor, and attorneys in the case agreed that the verdicts should be read.

Judge James Zagel said that will happen Monday afternoon. The jury had returned to the federal courthouse Monday morning after nine days of deliberations. They had been talking through the evidence over a three-week period.

What a great day for our state and politics in it!

This is a great way to spend tax payer dollars to fight these corrupt and arrogant politicians. Let's see how long that pretty hair holds up in the hands of some pig in his cell.

The national spotlight is being shined on the cockroaches of our state. I will vote in favor of a state

sales tax increase just to go after the scum of our state.

and he thought it would never happen. LOL

They'd have kept wasting our money until it did. Again it's not illegal to be an asshole.

Oh goodie now we get to pay to keep him in jail and appeal the decision. Awesome! Yay twice on this board today.

I think the legal system and a jury of peers disagrees with you.

Took them twice. Eventually they'd comform. I'm so glad we paid for it.

I hope the Federal Prosecutor never gets a hard on for me. Man thats like the kiss of death. And I'd risk the "jury of his peers" as there was one MALE on the jury.

We'll see what the appeals process, which we also pay for, gets. It will go on for years. Goodie. I can't wait to get the **** out of this LOSER State.

Very true. And this is the point I was arguing in the first trial last summer. The man is corrupt, he broke the law, he's guilty. The first trial was a slam dunk except for one bozo juror. At least this second jury got it right and logic prevailed. Although if this one came back hung as well I would have wanted the state to continue to prosecute him until we had a decision. You can't let crime go unpunished.

If it was hung after two then I would NOT have wanted it to continue.

It would have. Fitz has/had a vendetta against him. It was personal which had nothing to do with the trial. That's what makes it sad. So you got your Jusitce and the tax payers will pay for it. Twice.

Second time with the asshole just elected. The one that lied and raised taxes in the middle of the night before the new session started. You don't think he threatened other politicians? He did and taxes were raised.

Illinois is fucked. Shame I can't sell my house now or I'd be gone already.

So, playing devils advocate here;

If they ended the prosecution of Blago after the first trial and he walked, you would have been okay with that?

How does the political scum of Illinois get better? They just voluntarily decide that they are going to police themselves and clean up their own act?

But then you don't have your season tix anymore either - not a good trade-off to avoid living in Illinois.

I watched them win the Cup I could care less if I have season tickets. This State is about the ASSHOLE of America, or very close.

Center Ice looks more and more appealing every day.

Also I can move and still keep my tickets.

Yup, I'd have been fine with that. He was no longer Governor (you have a new scum bag in there) and my tax dollers would not be wasted on a 2nd trial, 3rd trial, ect ect. He was going until he FOUND a jury of "my peers" to convict him. YOu don't find the Irony in that? Really? It gets better by people/businesses leaving. Eventually they'll either figure it out, or declare Chapter "we suck".

Legally states cannot declare bankruptcy. Otherwise California and Illinois would have already done it. The 2% tax increase isn't going to pay down debt either. It's being used as 'givebacks' to keep companies from bolting Illinois. Several companies have already renegotiated tax breaks to stay in Illinois and others are pursuing this route as well (i.e. Sears).

LMAO, my thoughts exactly.

It's an embarrassment.

It's not even funny anymore. There is a reason the bottom half of the State just considers themselves NOT in IL. One County has the population to run the entire State. If you wan't me I'll be in Montana soon. Their they say one thing to the Federal Government, **** YOU! And lately, not so nicely.
