After a deep breath I don't want to lose perspective here, this is both a very said day, and a very good day for the organization. They needed this house cleaning but you wish it could have been done for much different reasons. I'm glad that the report is out and the folks have 'left' the organization, but if it's this damning I hope this isn't the end of their punishments.

Ugly, no question. But it just might have been the only way to get Bowman out of Dodge. Also disturbing that a few guys I respected like Coach Q are involved.

This is the right move on so many levels, the most important being that the person who should have been held accountable the most (Bowman) has been held accountable. I feel like the org gained at least some amount of credibility back.

I'm guessing the same thing will happen with Bowman and Team USA?

I wonder how much of this has trickled down to the players the last couple of weeks....there's always someone with inside info on this kind of shit.

This part of the exec summary is what the biggest problem is. How could this happen.

"On June 16, 2010, the Director of Human Resources met with Aldrich and offered him the option to undergo an investigation into what occurred with John Doe or to resign. Aldrich chose to resign and signed a separation agreement during the meeting. No investigation was conducted. Aldrich received a severance and a playoff bonus, and continued to be paid a salary for several months. He was permitted to host the Stanley Cup for a day in his hometown, his name was engraved on the Stanley Cup, he received a championship ring, and he attended a Stanley Cup banner-raising ceremony at the United Center. He went on to have paid and unpaid positions with USA Hockey, the University of Notre Dame, Miami University in Ohio, and Houghton High School in Houghton, Michigan. While in Houghton, in 2013, Aldrich was arrested and pled guilty to fourth degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor."

Yeah; they likely will move him out shortly.

Good ole HR

That person should be ashamed (and un-hireble) at a minimum and/or worse from a legal perspective

Marie Sutera

Aug 2010.

She was later promoted to VP, and was part of the early departures from the staff on Sept. 2nd. Which means the writing was on the wall as far back as Sept. 2nd. She came over from the wirtz beverage group about 14 years ago.

Q and Chevyldayoff to meet with Bettman now. This ain't over. I think they both get canned. If Bowman wasn't safe, I can't imagine these guys will be.

Bowman's statement basically threw his superior (I'm assuming McDonough) under the bus. Nevermind that he was part of that meeting. Just threw it at whomever he reported to.

You gotta respect the sheer shamelessness of trying the Homer Simpson "It's my first day" defense though.

I didn't expect any different, but he's gone. He resigned so Rocky et. al. doesn't pay out his contract. That stink of he ming involved in covering up a sexual assault should stick to him for a good long while.
