They still have to be accurate in setting the lines or the sharps (professional bettors) will break them.
The spread for the Bears vs Jags started at Bears being 2.5 point favorites. So much money was bet on Jacksonville, that the Bears were 1.5 point dogs at kickoff, to get the money evenly bet.

Pretty sure the Steelers are worried about their next game, which is the Jets.

The point is, if Fields was playing as well as you think, the switch would have never been made at all
You're not on the Steelers staff, who do you think starts the game against the Giants?

Jets -1.5 at Steelers seems like a easy Steelers play here regardless of who starts. Steelers pass rush is going to destroy Rodgers on that hobbled leg of his.
Jets have significantly better weapons (and an elite RB duo) and the Steelers best OL is out this week and overall their OL has been pretty sorry.

Chicago wouldn’t be a 4 point favorite over the Steelers.

FTR they’re a 2 point favorite at Washington in 2 weeks. Vegas likes us. I’d bet most people think Commanders would be a favorite in that game. -2 on the road. That means it would be like -4 at home.

Well, maybe they just aren't big on Washington. I doubt it. That number really seems like they believe in Chicago.
Appreciate you but I wasn't talking about odds at Vegas, just how you, me, or a TV personality would predict a final score

Steelers have a significantly better coach. And they are at home with one of the best home field advantages in the NFL.

If Wilson starts this Sunday, he's starting against the Giants too as long as he's healthy

The Fields delusions have been so far off from reality, from it even being a serious consideration to stick with him this offseason, to what he's been doing in Pittsburgh (as if this is what Tomlin wants from his QB). There's been so much rationalization of every twist and turn. There's this huge blind spot with him for many fans for some reason, to the point that many are also bitter about Caleb.

Hopefully Russ struggles or somehow finds a way to let Fields get to 51% of snaps, but I also hope at some point that the reality of who Fields is will set in for everyone and it can be let go. When he's no longer a starter in the NFL beginning next season, I guess that will be when we reach that point.

It was unreal that so many fans were so adamant about sticking with a guy who isn't considered a viable NFL starter and passing on the first true franchise QB the Bears have had in many decades. Baffling stuff.

right, but what he is saying is that Vegas had to come up with the initial line of bears being 2.5 point favorites. like, that number didnt just poof out of thin air

you are correct about how and why the line moves, for sure

Actually, the line started at Bears -1 (prior to the Panthers game) and then went to -2.5. Look ahead lines are 2 weeks in advance. It is common to see an overreaction in the line movement after the game leading up to the future game. And then the market corrects itself during the week. This is exactly what happened here. At kickoff, I did see it go to the Jaguars - 0.5 but not as far as -1.5. It is true that sharks were liking the Jaguars here due to their familiarity with London and that moved the needle to their direction ever so slightly. Luckily, they were wrong.

it might be a blessing in disguise so early in the season. Hopefully and likely Wilson will falter and then then turn back to Fields for likely the rest of the season.

I'd imagine Wilson has a pretty short leash.
last year Wilson in a "bad" year still threw for 26 TD in 15 games Fields is on pace for less then half of that. The one advantage is that Fields can actually run, and score TDs with his legs, and Wilson is old, so that OL might just get us that 4th rounder

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said Russell Wilson is in consideration to start Sunday night’s game vs. the Jets.

I feel like Fields is being a bit overrated this season.

Currently, he ranks 15th in completion %, 21st in yards per attempt, 27th in passing yards per game, 15th in QB rating, 20th in QBR, and 25th in TD passes.

The media talks about him like he's a top 10 QB this year, but he's playing more like the 15th-20th best QB in the league.
So the same guy the Bears had?
