Kuc tweeted an hour ago that Bickell's agent also said that things look good for the Hawks and Bicks to get a deal done. The guy wants to be in Chicago. Can anyone really blame him if he does take less money to stay and play for a team that will have repeated chances at winning the Cup...

Nope. There's something to be said about having a work environment that you enjoy going to....about not uprooting your family.....about playing for a great franchise. There are things in this world you can't always put a price tag on and this is one of them.

Things sound positve. If both parties agree to a reasonable deal, then I have to give Bickell a lot of credit. How often do you see athletes, especially non-superstars (where 2-3 million doesn't mean as much), sign a discounted deal? It is a rarity. Hopefully, it happens.

Yup, unless the contract details are insane, that is great news.

And I'm glad its 4 years, not 7, 8 or 9 years like other crazy deals.

Damn... $4 million per year is too much, IMHO.

Overpaid. :(

I hope I'm wrong.
Call me a meatball, but something has to be said for the toughness he brings. If he finishes like he did in the postseason (I highly doubt he repeats) then the contract will be alright.

What was he making before this contract?

If he pots 9 goals every playoff, then good, but he isn't really a good checking forward, just a net body. I hope I'm wrong, but $3.25 sounded about right for his skill set, not $4 million.

Please prove me wrong, Brian!!

Just over 500k. I do not really like the 4 mil per year, but at least that is done and over with. That still leaves quite a chunk of money to get other deals done.

He was on a 3 year deal with less than 600k each year I think. he was bound to get way much more.

He just needs to keep doing what he's been doing for the last 6 months. The Bowmans know what they're doing.....Pitt just paid Letang 7.5 mill, makes the Keith and Seabrook deals look pretty damn good. I've been likening Bickell to Al Secord. He wasn't an instant success when he got here but he really became a monster when he got lined up with Savard and Larmer. I see the same thing with Bickell hooking up with Toews & Kane. Let's hope I'm right.

Let us hope that something clicked this past season. He is getting paid to show up now, so he better. The scary part is, the contract will likely still be something that people would take in trade in a few years.
