Antoine Vermette. 32 year old center with lots of speed and a dynamo at faceoffs. He's an RFA next year and available as Arizona doesn't want to pay him any big dollars. I think he's like 3.5 mil and Bickell is 4.0...Bickell is only 28 which could be a selling point. I mean the Hawks will have to pony up some youth as well but the Hawks could use his speed and more importantly his faceoff prowess. He'd probably be a rental as the Hawks will be nearly capped out next year....but why not? I'm not talking about mortgaging the future but if this guy helps you end up where you want to be....I think you go for it.

I am all for securing another center incase of injury come this post season and Vermette has been a fancy for many hawk fans the last few years when his name has come up. Lets wait to see what the trade deadline has to offer when other teams become sellers though. No need to rush on Vermette right now. Hawks have done well in the past with a questionable center depth anyways esp when you have Kane who may play rw but he does so with the swagger of a play making center. RW is the Hawks strong point (besides on the pp). As long as the rw remains healthy I am actually not overly concerned with the center depth come these playoffs. thats just me though

With Handzus and Bollig gone Bickell is the new whipping boy.

Ding!

The most important question is does he wear a visor or perhaps was he sat long enough after his last MTBI?

I like Bickell, at least on the few occasions he decides to emerge from his shrub...which, given, isn't often. Am I drunk? Yes. Is that a decent excuse? Perhaps. Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of better options on the roster (and if the Hawks have lacked anything over the last several seasons it has been a few size/skill guys).

I like the idea of trading for Vermette and using Bickell. As far as giving up youth, I got the chance to see the IceHogs a couple of times and they have a couple players that are very small steps away from being NHLers, Hartman, LeBlanc, McNeil, Ross, all come to mind. I would be willing to part with Hartman or LeBlanc, but not McNeil or Ross. Maybe even a 3rd round pick if they take Bickell off our hands.

Grant it, he is the Ghost hunters dream during the regular season, and has had some good playoff spurts, but in all honesty, he has done nothing to justify the money he's been getting paid and would be a huge dump to resign Saad to a longer term contract.

I had no idea, but there's a documentary about him. It was produced prior to the 2013 playoffs, so they must have had an idea of his future greatness. I didn't DVR it, because I missed the first hour...and we all know that sucks. Can't wait for the replay.

And it's on Animal Planet...he should LOVE that.

I don't know if you noticed, but Toews, Kane, Saad, Sharp, and all these flashy stick handlers are tough sob's but kind of little bitches that would lose any direct confrontation with most of the league. Bickel is a necassary piece who played out of his mind in contract year and forced us to overpay. It doesn't matter that we overpayed, because we had to have that type of player out there protecting our stick handlers. And we need at least one more to emerge outside of our bad ass defenders. Carbomb is alright in the roll I guess. Versteeg reminds me of a poor man's Kane, and Tuevo will be in the same boat.

When was the last time Bickell won or even had a direct confrontation with a tough player in the league? When was the last time he even fought a player? Most of his hits are shit. And he gets paid to play like he does in the playoffs. Look at a guy like Shaw. He's small but he plays hard every game, playoffs or not. I'd take a million Shaws before one Bickell.

Bigfoots are stealthy.... you see him in front of the goalie last night? Goalie didn't even know someone was screening him till it was too late.

So you're okay with losing a guy like sharp or even possibly saad to keep a guy like Bickell? I like him but he costs way to much to keep him for the chance he plays good in the playoffs.

Yes.... that is exactly what I am saying.... do you know how rare a Bigfoot is? Much less to have one playing for your hockey team? The dude is a steal.

LeBlanc isn't close, but I'd be more than happy to ship him with Bicks to Arizona.

I'd pass on giving up Hartman who's still only 19 (going on 20) and a 1st round pick we took 2 years ago. His light contract is going to come in handy next year when we have to fill cap space with low contracts.
