it kinda shows the depth of this hawks team that there is still really not a clear cut contender for playoff MVP and you could make a case for a handful of players on this team.

Wow that video was EXCELLENT! I was smiling the whole time... very touching. Good to see a poor kid who lived in a trailer be able to make it this far. Seems all too easy for some of these kids who come from rich families who are given the best of the best in terms of gear and coaching to make it. Then you see an inspirational story like this and it really makes you happy.

He looks to have a very close relationship with his mother... and for all she has done for him I hope he's repaying her :-D

I had no idea how Buff came up in hockey and now I do... thanks for sharing that!!

Not sure how you can come to that conclusion pmxc.

For me:

Toews

Niemi

Buff

Sharp

Kane

Without looking at stats or anything. Really, after Toews and Niemi, you can really pick anyone to fill out the rest of that list as every single Hawk has contributed. Hossa probably deserves to be in there somewhere, I'd pick Seabrook over Keith, Bolly has done well, Hjalmarsson has only had one bad game the entire playoffs, hell even Sopel and Versteeg (two of the biggest scapegoats) have played pretty well.

I think Toews will take it. Niemi has had a decent final but far from where he played the previous 3 series, luckily the Hawks offense has been up to the task.

Buff has a case, we would NOT be here without him, no doubt. But IMO the impact made by Niemi and Toews is just slightly above his impact.

Toews is the safe pick, definitely.

I say they give it to whoever steps up and scores the hat trick in Game 6! :D

I wish I could throw Hossa's name out there... but I'm sure the 3289757892359 voters only look at stats anyways.

Yeah, Hoss has been very good, but not Conn Smythe worthy IMO... he has impacted the games but has not dented the score sheet nearly enough.

Buff might have the best case outside of Toews and Niemi. He leads the entire playoffs in hits, he leads the entire playoffs with 5 game winners (1 OT), 2nd best shooting percent for those who lasted past the first round, tied for 3rd in goals... these are all qualities that can help him, and certainly qualities that sound Conn Smythe worthy.

the majority of Buff's were tap-ins (From Bolland/Kane vs SJ....and Toews last nite).
Yeah but the argument could be made that he had to get to those places and stay there to score them.
I'd say -

Toews

Niemi

Keith

Kane

In that order...and depending if anyone has a monster game 6 ...could vault any of them. I think Hossa has been better than Byfuglien all playoffs - other than GWG - and the majority of Buff's were tap-ins (From Bolland/Kane vs SJ....and Toews last nite). Heck I'd vote for Bolland over Byfuglien.
No one and I mean NOOOOOO one has played more physical than the big man these playoffs on any team. As for the majority of his goals being tap ins? So what. There is a lot to be said about getting into position for those "tap ins". 90 something hits these playoffs? That's incredible.

Oh god I can't talk about Conn Smythe right now. This series isn't over yet. AHHHHHH!!

How I come to the logic...is I think Bolland has had a bigger impact defensively than Byfuglien offensively.

Bolland has had to shut down the MVP (Sedin)...then Thornton...and is a +3 with 5pts in the finals so far...so he's had just as much impact defensively

With Toews and Kane getting 25+ pts - and teams gameplan to shut them down...speaks volumes. Even though its a "given" they score by fans...teams base thier D against them and they still produce. Although the media hyped up "Big Buff" vs Pronger - I guarantee it was Kane, Toews and Hossa that teams plan to shut down.

Keith playing 27+ minutes, teeth knocked out, and there have been some games he jumped in offensively while carrying his weight defensively....I think hes more Conn Smythe worthy.

With all that said....I still think its

Toews

Niemi

with Kane and Keith following

If Niemi has a huge game/shutout...he could claim it.

If Kane has a 3-4 pt night (catches/passes Toews ...and Hawks win), I could see him winning it

If Toews nets 1 or 2 ...Hawks win and he keeps the scoring title - with the point streak he had, no doubt he would get it.

Kane was great from the start in the Nahville series - has only been off the scoresheet 4 gms

Toews has only been off the scoresheet 4gms - including the 13gm pt streak

-and I'm not downplaying what Buffs done....but he didnt have a point the first 8gms and Toews and Kane have been pretty consistant on the scoresheet and create the majority of Buffs offense. No doubting his physical play.

What does talking about the potential MVP have to do with winning the Cup? Even if a Flyer won the Conn Smythe, the Blackhawks can still have their own "MVP"... just interesting that some aren't even considering Buff in their top 5.

hey i just felt it would make interesting discussion. I say the Conn Smythe goes to Michael Leighton or we could go the Canada fan way and say Halak. God I have read that so many times on TSN
