Who cares what round they were drafted in? That’s a stupid comparison..
Also, this is correct.

Doesn’t matter where a player was drafted… are they good or not.

Pace has made 4 1st round picks. 2 have sucked, 1 is good and on another team, and 1 is a super star. Even that isn’t a bad record at all.

It is 100% irrelevant in this case.

They didn’t even have true free agency till 1993. Anything about roster building before that is irrelevant.

Most of those 1st round picks couldn’t leave like they can now.

What is this '1993' you speak of?

Everyone knows the year is always 198x.

Pace’s biggest issues in the draft have been

-Lack of volume, still a problem.
-1 year wonders/reaches (Mitch, White, Shaheen)
-Ignoring the OL

How often do 1st rounders become perennial franchise players? Overall, it’s hardly debatable that pace is above average drafter. He’s missed on some top 10 picks, he hasn’t had a full deck of them, but overall, out of all the negatives you can point to regarding pace, drafting is not one of them
You're out of your mind if you believe that.

So he's been in 7 drafts and only had 4 picks because HIS trades.

White, Mitch, Floyd all didn't get a 2nd contract. Only Roquan - probably Fangio influenced - has been good.

That's pretty bad.

Ryan Pace was quoted as saying that a team should be built through the draft. Consider the following and rate Pace's credibility

The 1985 Chicago Bears had 10 first round draft choices on the roster chosen by the Bears: Payton, Hampton, Al Harris, Otis Wilson, Van Horne, McMahon, Covert, Gault. Marshall, and Perry.

The 2021 Bears have two (2) players the team has drafted in the first round: Smith and Fields.
So you have to hit on your first round picks to get to the Super Bowl??? Like Tampa Bay last year who had four home grown first round picks, Evens, Wirfs, Vea, White or KC in 2019 who had two Fisher, and oh yeah that guy Mahomes. What about the last time the Bears were in the Super Bowl, Grossman, Harris, and Urlacher. That's nine home grown first round picks on three different Super Bowl teams, I guess the 1985 Bears were just more Super because they ten on that team.

No. It’s literally not relevant when you’re discussing what it takes to win a championship in today’s NFL.

The game has changed. You can’t win a championship on defense and a shitty QB anymore.
you literally had the best quarterback ever (many on CCS will say this) get blown the fuck out by the other team's defense to the point he was a complete non-factor. like a Peyton Manning Broncos 1st Super Bowl campaign level BTFO.

you all need to stop saying quarterback is the be all, end all. you need a balanced team that's strong in the trenches on both sides to win. Bill Belichick raped McVay's world beating offense with defense, for another example. how's that for contemporary championship wins? that was 2 years ago, you fuck.

for posterity, the Bears are suspect on both sides of the ball. they're not winning a Super Bowl, ever, for the rest of our lives because they're run by blowjobs.

I brought this to a few weeks ago, how many of his draft picks, regardless of round, get a second contract or extension?

Cohen, Cody , Goldman and Eddie Jackson, while all are solid players for the most part are not game changers. He hasn’t drafted a single game changing player in 7 years.

the nfl draft is a crap shoot, that being the case accumulating as many picks as possible should be your draft mentality. Pace does the exact opposite.

He isn't terrible. Like Windy said, Pace is 2 out of 4 in first rounders which is league average for first rounders. He is probably pretty close to 50% in later rounds which is way above league average.

Probably the better thing that can be said about Pace is that drafting is probably the least bad thing he does.

Hey Special person, the two teams you mentioned winning those SBs had the best QB of all fucking time playing for them. Way to swing and miss on that one.

Without Brady they wouldn’t even have been in the SB ya dumbass.

Way to swing and miss on that one.

  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
  2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The actual 85 Bears defense wouldn’t be allowed to play in this kiddie nfl. They actually got to hit and tackle in that era. The teams of today wouldn’t stand a chance in that era.
