Die-hard fan was the word I was originally thinking of in place of "true fan."

Because myself as a longtime die hard Bulls fan. I don't respect fans like you. Guys that want to celebrate the winning, but don't stick around and talk down about the team when they aren't.

It's like people saying they are both Cubs and Sox fans. You can't be both. Die hard Sox fan since 83.

Aren't there different levels of fandom? Is it diehard or nothing? If you haven't been able to tell- I'm not a big NBA fan. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't bash or hate the NBA like many hockey fans do but I'm just not enthusiastic about basketball. Overall, I like this Bulls team because of the work ethic of DR and the overall dedication to winning that the team has shown over the last year plus. If they had a bunch of knuckleheads it wouldn't matter how good they were- I wouldn't like them.

Fair-weather fans are still rightful fans. They just aren't as big of a fan. Like #19 said, there are levels of fan-dom.

Not every girl who has a Justin Bieber poster in her room would throw herself in front of a bus just to have a chance to see him in person.

I call them casual observers.

I don't call them fans. That's just me.

I'm going to give you respect even though I don't agree with you.

Hate? Really? Isn't that a little strong?

No, it isn't strong. Especially when you try to talk to these guys about the team, the history and things that happened and they look at you like you're speaking German.

Drives me up a wall.

I hate those guys.

I respect you because at least you said it plainly. I just won't take anything you say seriously. Plus you like the number 19, which is one of my favorite numbers. So we have that in common. I know it's Toews' number.

If they enjoy watching the team, and they give the team local t.v. ratings, and/or pay for tickets, it helps the team.

Regardless of whether they are "fans" or not, they deserve our (die-hard's) respect.

We die-hards love the team for who they are, regardless of whether they suck or they are great.

For those band-wagon fans who grab their nuts and hate on other teams- they deserve zero respect.

Anybody who nut grabs and hates on other teams just to be a dick (die-hard, fair-weather, or band-wagon) doesn't deserve respect.

I noticed this last year. I'm not sure how I feel about it because I hate bandwagoners. When your fanbase has bandwagoners people assume that you are one too.

Bulls are definitely gaining fans every year.

Like many things in life, you run into trouble when you start talking in absolutes. I'm a Bulls fan going back to 1984. They weren't very good then. No one appreciates the rise from the ashes more than me. I got in at the ground floor. But once again, it depends on why they're bad. The Bulls were bad when I got on board, so that doesn't bother me. 19 articulated it correctly.

There is nothing wrong with being a fair weather fan in my opinion. If watching the Bulls lose 65 out of 82 games in an dismal season makes a die hard fan...count me out.

And teams attain fans by being successful. Some cities like winners, and once the novelty of a team's existence wears off, people get bored with losing. I became a Bulls fan because Jordan was here, I became a NBA fan because of Jordan.

Not a lot of thought is needed people. This IS NOT A RELIGION. This is sports, not that complicated.

He isn't GM, just the owner. lol

The owner has final say over basketball decisions if he wants to trade a player for garbage he has the right too. Bet your ass he made the draft picks last year not "the gm". He is in control of that team.

Didn't know.... now I do, but like BB54 said, the owner has the overall say in that shit any ways so it doesn't really matter.

Who were you watching during the Marcus Phizer days?

I was watching the Bulls.

I was there during the Tim Floyd/Bill Cartwright coaching days. It wasn't fun, but I'm a die hard, so I stick with my team, win or lose. I just don't respect fans that are only fans when they win. Yo have to go through the rough spots in order to appreciate the great times.

In my opinion.

Who was I watching? Paint dry...it was more interesting.

The idea that you have to watch Marcus Fizer do anything as bad as he did it over and over to be a fan of a team is ludicrous. Fizer sucked and I stopped watching. I liked Elton Brand, was glad when Krause left, etc. But watching the worse team in the NBA was not "must see tv" to me.

I am a Sox fan...when they start losing, I start watching stuff that is more interesting. Same with the Bears. I have NO INTEREST in the last game of the season. It means nothing.

How am I a fan? I have watched every draft since the late 1980's. I remember going to a friend's house across the street and bragging about the Bulls getting Stacey King. I have bought tickets to games going back to 1995-1998 and then going to see them in 2007 against the Heat and the Pistons in the playoffs. I have seen damn near every Bull you speak of, not interested in watching sucky basketball over the course of six months.

You can be a Bulls fan and an NBA fan. That is why I appreciated other teams and their talent.

Wasn't going to watch some guy named Larue or old ass Hersey Hawkins when I had a Nintendo 64 and a playstation in the house.

Sorry.
