Honestly, I have no problem with McD on the cup, as much as I dispise him, his position dictates that he should be on the cup, as previously mentioned it's guys like Blumpkin being on there over guys like Bickell, especially when as I previously pointed out, they have 8 rows of management on there, and 6 and a half rows of players.

if a player plays in a single playoff game, or 41 regular season games, they qualify for getting their name on the cup. it was the management team that decided to leave him off, which I think was just idiotic.

I thought it was more than one playoff game...or one game in the Finals...could be wrong

I was under the impression that was the case as well... Of course he as a canuck fan he'll never really have to worry about this problem! HIYOOOOO... (yes I know he's a hawks fan but it's not as funny that way)

He is correct except they have to PLAY one SC FINALS game, not just a playoff game--- Although I'm not sure Bickell played 41 games as a Hawk did he? Nor did he play any in the finals.



Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible. Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances.

Bickell played 16 games as a Hawk...hasn't even played 41 games his whole career. It wasn't personal keeping him off.

I believe that a player must play at least 40 regular season games or 1 game in the Final to qualify, but exceptions can be made.

Bickell played in 3 games against Nashville and a game against the Canucks, but didn't play in the Conference Finals or the Final. And he also didn't play in the required 41 games during the regular season. Thus, his name isn't on the Cup. It's that simple. There's no conspiracy here.

ding ding ding on the Bickell played more games than Boynton (though boynton didn't play in the reg season because his cap number was huge and hendry did thta job fine against most teams).



And I'm sick of the 41 games and or 1 cup game... in the article it says again THERE IS NO SUCH RULE, it's at the disgression of the team as long as it's someone within the organization is the only rule.

God I just read the rest of the responses, please stop making up rules, there is no 41 game 1 cup game rule In case you decided not to read the link I posted in the first place which again states this in it, it's been listed in several other locations of late. It's the disgression of the team purely as long as they are associated with the team!
