Barnes? At that spot there are tons better options we could take. Someone mentioned MKG. I've heard pretty much all good things about him. Beal would be solid as well. Maybe try to get a scoring big man? Perry Jones III looks like he could be a player as well. Point is, if this were to even happen (which I highly doubt), there's far better options.

Perry Jones III will bust hard in the NBA. Too soft and has work ethic concerns

Barnes is high-risk/high-reward for the top 8 in this draft. But he's a reasonable risk/high-reward anywhere after.

I think the Bulls are working out the best players possible, so they can measure up the field. It has nothing to do with interest in trading up to draft Barnes.

Being a UNC fan living in NC, I've watched him closely the last few years. If he falls as far as the Bulls pick, it wouldn't be a bad pick. Like someone pointed out he may have an upside, I haven't seen it, but it may be there.

I was disappointed he came out early he needs more time at the college level to fix his game. The NBA will expose problems, not fix them, his mediocre jump shot being the biggest glaring error, well that and no post game, not particularly a good passer. As of right now, he would be a bench player in the NBA.

I wish him the best...

lol@ barnes...you guys serious?

he doesn't have much of a handle, he's not quick, he's moderately athletic,he plays pretty poor defense, he has a career A to TO ratio of 0.64, and he's not that great a rebounder despite the fact he's reasonably 6'8

one of the big reasons for his good offense at UNC was that he was in roy's run and gun offensive system and had the best passer in the NCAA at PG...in the few games KM was out barnes was horrible..he can barely create his own offense

so you're just getting a good spot up shooter...who actually doesn't shoot well against good competition

and if he has issues with handle and shooting against good college competition..imagine the issues he'll have against premier nba defenders every night

no..i'm not saying he's a terrible player..but he's overrated...he got out of college at the right time because he was getting exposed badly
Wouldn't be saying this if he was a Duke player.

I think he would. Code kind of calls it like he sees it. Ask him about his assessment of Austin Rivers. :/

And the thing is, I agree w/ him. I'm not big on Barnes. Dude has the potential to take over games, but his defense is meh, and he disappears in big games. Being an ACC Fan actually gives a bit more perspective...we've watched a lot of Barnes over the last couple years. He's not as good as he was touted out of high school. He can still be a productive player in the NBA, but he's gonna take some work.

Honestly, after Davis, this draft is kinda meh, imo. A lot of potential 6th man of the year award winners.

The cavs will be taking Barnes, he will be a star in the nba. Just needs to be smarter with shot selection.

considering the HYPE Barnes had coming out of High School...he never really impressed me to be honest, he can't really create on his own either nor is he a guy you can give him the ball and tell him to go take over the game

if the Bulls looking to trade up I would rather go get Michael Kidd-Gilchrist...wouldn't really worry about his shoot, Bulls have too many damn Jump Shooters as it is, they could use a Finisher and a Slasher and someone that can draw fouls plus he is a Shut Down Defender, I think he is going to be better then Barnes in the NBA

ya..this

honestly, despite my harsh criticism(which is correct though:smug:)...barnes is probably a better pro prospect than rivers(i think with another year...he'd be alot better because i think the things he needs to fix could be worked on more in college)

rivers is 6'4 6'5..undersized...can't really go to his left...does not really have a mid range game other than a floater and a bank...his defense is alright..and his 3 point shot has odd mechanics

not a good rebounder and can't really play 2,so he's going to be an undersized SG

barnes is at least an ideal height for his position...he's a good fit for a wing

well i don't think we would expect barnes to ever take over anything in the NBA..he's not that good regardless

but the issue is barnes is a spot up shooter who can't dribble very well and needs good looks and an up tempo offense to thrive..i just don't think he fits that well with the bulls

Agree with most of the assessments on Barnes. While I think he will be a quality NBA player, I don't see his ceiling much higher than a player currently on our roster, Luol Deng. If we were to trade up to the top 10, I would want Jeremy Lamb selected. Good size, freakishly long arms, good athleticism, excellent ball-handler, & can create off the dribble. I've been pining for Kevin Martin for 2 years & this kid could be his 2nd coming.

While I would agree with that assessment, it might be able to free you from that albatross of a contract that Deng has.

Oh I agree & I'm all for taking him if we can shed Deng's contract in a trade for a top 5 pick. My ultimate fantasy is trading Deng (possibly Asik too) to Sacramento for Evans & the #5. Unfortunately, I probably have a better chance of finding a talking taco that shits ice cream than that ever happening.

Wouldn't you rather go Beal than Barnes?

Barnes is good but he's basically a more athletic Deng at the SG spot. Doesn't have much handle, isn't a tremendous shooter(yet). Dude's good but not really a stud or a difference maker. I'd rather have Lamb than Barnes..and rather have Beal than both
