100% of the players on the Ice, when the Hawks were hoisting the Stanley Cup, were brought into the organization while Dale Tallon was the general manager.

Nick Boynton? (Hell he even dressed for that game... and I am not going to get into a pointless Tallon pissing contest..

- the fact is the guy is no longer GM of the Hawks - and frankly who cares? A lot of this cap shit is entirely his fault, as well as the hugely expensive backup goalie - and he paid for it by being canned.

Ok so 1 player out of the 20 that dressed for the game was not brought in under Tallon.

Looking back at the Huet signing now is easy to call that a bad contract but at the time it was actually a smart move. Huet was coming off an amazing season and Khabibulin's contract was about to expire and because of his age we were in the market for a starting goaltender for this season. Sure Huet had some poor performances this season but we stayed atop the central most of the season with him in net. Niemi was brought in by Tallon and was expected to play in Rockford this season.

I am not trying to argue I am just pointing out the fact that being an armchair GM is really easy when you can see into the future. You're right though he is now in Florida and I will let it go and focus on our current team and organization. I just thought that needed to be said.

Tallon was responsible for most of the team which is why im cool with him getting a ring...now he is in florida, and dont be shocked if they put out a nice little team in the next few years

i just dont understand how anyone who knows anything about hockey is against this trade

As much as I like Big Buff, this was a good trade. Would've been nice to keep him, but that's pro sports for you.

Hey, I've applauded Dale's work from day one. He did a great job in drafting and trading but unfortunately he really blew a tire in his free agent signings. Some of his patchwork signings were forgivable but his down fall really started with the contract he gave Khabibulin...no matter how you felt about him in his last year here, I will always consider him a money grubbing piece of shit. His bad play forced Tallon to compound the Hawks problems by signing Huet because he didnt feel he could count on Khabibulin...which no one in their right mind could. Khabibulin did NOTHING here until his contract season, then suddenly he decides to play...what a surprise. He then gets Edmonton to shell out more money on his sorry ass and low and behold he goes down again for yet another injury and is lost for the season. He is CRAP.

Huet on the other hand, did the best he could. He's just not very good. He just took advantage of the one good season he had but Tallon should of done more research on him. There was a reason he didnt stay with Montreal...they saw him evey day and it became evident that he just wasnt very consistant. Too many bad goals and bad nights in between the good games he had. Washington caught lightning in a bottle for one year, not even one full year more like 15 games +playoffs...they could have resigned him, but didnt. That should have set off some red flags but unfortunately for Dale, it didnt.

IMOP, these two huge screwups cost him his job regardless of what the Hawks said the reason was. It cost the team players and money...that's a big no-no when your GM.

I used to be a fan, now I just hate baseball.
My sentiments exactly! I can't even ponder the anguish of watching another baseball game. 100% Hawks . feels awesome having pride for a winning team.

Captain Iago did the math on this awhile back ... about 60 percent of the Hawks active roster entering the playoffs came from Dale.

He certainly deserves one, did a lot of the recruiting.

But he didn't do ALL of it. Trying not to over-credit the guy.

yes he does.

i wonder if we will see how he received it...will they just send it to him, or present it to him in a ceremony?

I don't blame Tallon at all, he did the job he set out to do for his time here. He built a championship team, his goal wasn't to build a dynasty that can kept all of it's situational players or 5th D-man.

I think this was a great trade and got more out of it than I expected. Were able to draft Hayes from the pick and that other 2nd made the trade for his brother a easy decision. Plus they got a more solid prospect for their prospect plus a new cheaper 3rd/4th line centerman in that Madden/Paulhson mode, all while cutting what 5-6Mil from the cap?

I did love Buff for when he got his mojo going on the road or in the playoffs but other than that he was lacking effort and that hopefully can be replaced by a core, like Bowman said, of players like Brouwer or if Beach or Bickle make the squad.

The one garbage throw-in in this trade Atlanta threw in to not exceed NHL maximum contracts was just signed by Toronto (Joey Crabb).

Not surprising. Aliu has a hockey IQ of 0.

The more I watched Morin at prospect camp the more I liked him.

His back-checking, knack for the net, nice wrist shot....etc. Solid.

Morin > Aliu.
