Should it also be mentioned that Joey Crabb was also added in the trade from Atlanta to Chicago?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Dudley on Byfuglien:

Yeah, you're right; that's kinda steep. Maybe something else is in store.

Granted, they paid almost 3 for Madden...but that money was spent so he would show these young guys the way to the Cup.

Not a horrible trade, but not one that makes me jump up and say "wow" either. We'll see how it plays out. It is always amazing to me to hear front office personnel say "he finally became the player we knew he would be" (referring to Buff) only to whatch him be dealt moments later.

Forgive me if this has been posted already, didn't wanna sift through 12 pages to see.

Buff and Aliu being trade sucks, but at the end of the day, if we wanna keep our 'A' players, we're going to do it at the expense of most of our 'B' players. Getting the draft picks is nice, as we can find replacements hopefully through the draft, and they'll come much cheaper. Buff's post-season play will be sorely missed, but hopefully we can find another samoan on skates to clog the lane.

At the same time, it makes a LOT of sense to trade a player when his value is at his all-time highest. Hard thing to do, but sometimes it's neccesary.

Brouwer played amazingly with Kane/Toews for about 60 games. For the sake of dumping salary, Buff was expendable.

And dont forget WE GOT SOMEBODY TO TAKE SOPEL!

So its Buff (nice player, but pretty expensive with 1 year of contract left)
Eager (Meh. Instagator who did very little instigating this year)
Aliu (Never seen him play, but ive never heard anything positive about him)

for 2 prospects (dont know much about them but we need to stock the minors)
a Center who MAY be able to center our third line, allowing Bolland to center the 2nd line with Sharp/Hossa.
2 draft picks.
ANd getting rid of Sopel's contract.

Im pretty happy with it. We knew we would have to lose some players that we like but we just cut a lot of salary.

I dont really understand that trade so much because of his low cap-hit but i doubt we will notice that he's gone. He is one of my favorites actually but he's still a healthy scratch type of player.

:dunno:

He overpaid Versteeg (which from what i hear wasnt really his fault). Huet will not be an issue. Campbell makes a lot of money, yes, but hes still extremely valuable.

Really, Tallons contracts arent killing us right now. He built a team that won a Stanley Cup, with contracts that all fit under the cap for one glorious year. Yes everything isnt perfect now, but he did a lot for the franchise.
