Btw, for the casual Hawk fans, the logical reason why this is taking so long to become official is because the NHL brass is on a flight from NY to LA for the draft this Friday.

That is, of course, if something else behind the scenes is holding this up.

Holdup is, per Bob McKenzie, Atlanta has too many contracts

It is my understanding Chi-Atl trade hold up is indeed because Atl would have 51 contracts with trade. Atl has to move a contract first.

Or I suppose they could back Aliu out of the deal for now and move him later in a separate transaction once Atl moves a contract.

I'm counting 46 before the trade.

+4 (Buf, Eager, Sopel, Aliu) puts them at 50

-2 Reasoner, Morin sets them at 48.

Where are the other 3?

I see the 41 under contract including unrestricted and restricted free agents...I'm not sure how many non-roster players count.

I don't mean to wish any harm on Buff's career, but I think it'd be kinda funny if he ended up having to play for Atlanta's minor league affiliate.

In Chicago.

I thought I had a handle on the others from the non-roster player group, but apparently, I do not. :D

It was Barker for Leddy and Johnsson that broke Bowman's cherry. :D

Oh shit, was there a super minor trade before that one...

Well, I'm not going to speak for Dewey, but I'm not thrilled losing such an instrumental part in winning the cup. Like I said before, I don't care about some regular season coasting as long as he shows up come playoffs. So few (like 1 I can think of off the top of my head and he doesn't have the size/weight of Byfuglien) can play that style throughout the season anyhow. He was never going to cost us a playoff spot.

But go ahead, I can take the ripping from the idealists or those in the Chicago Tough/Rowand Pie Gang/Grinder camp for my acceptance of a guy who doesn't give 110% all of the time.

oh by the way im wsoxkid, changed my name.

anyway....i really do not like it for a few reasons. 1) we didnt get enough. i believe draft picks/prospects are exactly that until proven to be a pro. 2) we did not have to give him up due to the cap, there are other guys i preferred to go first. ladd, versteeg etc 3)buff single handidly helped us win the cup....imo i do not think we win the cup if he is not on the roster. again just my thoughts
