Having 'multiple' 100+ rating games and not throwing INTs won't equate to wins when you aren't scoring any points. I'm not sure why people aren't grasping this when its an actual fact....the Bears are 4-10.

The Bears have one of the worst offenses in the league. They are easily the most inefficient. 4.5 yards per play, 32% on 3rd downs, etc. Caleb has played a part in all of those 'problems'. He can get better, but...

Its only 2 100+ games, one of which being in a blowout loss to the 9ers where we had like 5 yards in the first half.

Caleb isnt the problem like you said, but he's a part of the problem. Him playing poorly early in games, even going back to when they were 4-2, is a large reason this team is on an 8 game losing streak.

I'd have rather him air the ball out and risk INT's early than go down multiple scores in each game because the offense and caleb is conservative and doesnt want to make a mistake.

Hopefully that happens vs the lions putrid defense, if they start out slow again like they did on thanksgiving against all these backups then we have a real issue.

Not buying that. That pot is already simmering and next year with a new HC, probably a new GM, and a bunch of new additions plus the offseason hype if Caleb doesn’t look like at least a top 10 QB this fan base will be in full meltdown mode by the 3rd game.

People mention Josh Allen and other QBs that took 3 years to develop….. this fan base won’t give him that. He will get around 3 games next year before he becomes the full focal point of all their angst.
You better not be bitching sheep, Caleb deserves this criticism if he’s not playing up to ridiculous lofty standards

1: it’s OK to admit he’s struggling. (He is)
2: it’s OK to say he’s a rookie QB and rookie QBs do this shit some games.

Developing a QB is a long term play.
Why the others outplaying a generation QB?

They lost 14 in a row without Caleb. I'm thinking maybe the team has bigger issues than the quarterback.
Cool. They also went 7-6 with Justin Fields to end the season last year. They also won a Super Bowl with Jim McMahon. They also made the title game with rookie Chuckin' Charlie O'Rourke in 1942.

I'm thinking Caleb Williams' performance this year is a bigger issue to the 2024 Bears than anything done in the past by other QBs.

Coming from the guy that literally nut hugs every bears QB, I’ll take it as a compliment

Why are you a Bears fan if you can't even pretend to have hope any more? Why hang out insisting on torturing those who can have hope.
There's 31 other teams out there you could follow instead and no laws tying you to being a Bears fan.

If you can't have hope about Williams what exactly can you have hope about with this team? Are you hanging around hoping the NFL goes back to leather helmets and allowing defense again?
Maybe you're hoping for Rollerball type snuff games.
Neither are likely to happen in our lifetimes.

Generational numbers though

yawn

Go take it up with the reporters who were throwing around "generational" years ago. The troll schtick is getting old here.

They also won a Super Bowl with Jim McMahon.

Note that there were 5 1st round picks on offense that year, McMahon, Payton, Gault and 2 OTs (Covert and Van Horn). All picked before McCaskeys got their dirty mitts on the team.

Since the McCaskeys there has been Cade McNown as a QB just out of the top 10 until the Trubisky era and beyond. There have been 7 (I think) OTs, with only Williams, Carimi and Long being close enough to think they were an attempt to have an oline at the same time. There have been 5 WRs drafted in the first round.
Does that 40 year record sound like a team that is trying to win anything?

Considering 8 GMs and HCs did this does it sound like an ownership that isn't at least manipulating the idea that offense is not worth having?

that is meatball behavior. enjoy being one if you wish, but dont expect all of us to mold into a ball of meat

Why not? Especially in a rookie year where any conclusions you draw are meaningless at best and at worst paint you out to be an idiot for a career?
Imagine if you were saying this crap about Paintin Manning. You'd never live that down and if the mods actually moderated like every other forum they would expose the sock puppet accounts so it wouldn't be so easy to wipe the dumb takes away.

Next year I'll probably say why not again but that's mainly because I fought it the whole time of "Rex is our QB" and it does a person no good. After Rex was put back in I should've enjoyed my year of football in '05 and went back to pheasant hunting on Sundays, watch the news to see if "Rex is our QB" and continued hunting as long as that went on.
Us bitchin about it does no good. The QBs are going to be here for their contract. The McCaskeys have learned the QB carousel doesn't work, it's expensive and costs more than getting rookie contracts and letting them run for 4 years.
May as well hope for a rookie, hope a 2nd year figures it out, hope he's a slow learner by the 3rd year. The 4th years are pretty rough.

cuz rah rahing just to rah rah is dumb.

and nowhere am i "bitching" about anything. merely pointing out what is happening and seen before my eyes. if i end up "wrong" then so be it, though i havent really taken any long term stance on CW so not really sure what there is to be right or wrong on even. all i am saying is that he hasnt shown anything different from college, where he had flashes of brilliance but also plays that left you scratching your head

he has yet to show the ability to play within an offense and this goes back to his college days as well.

again, sorry for being a realist about the situation and still hoping for the best. not sure why that offends you so much, but im sorry?

How does me asking why bother being a Bears FAN if you're just going to play the odds about rookie QB predictions equal me being offended?
How does that even make any sense?

No QB means this team isn't worth being a fan of. If you're playing the odds of QBs failing with no blind meatball hopes why do you bother following the team at all? Those meatball hopes are all this loser team has.

I'm only still here because of Williams and that hope is waning fast. I had no cares about missing last week's game like I had no cares about forgetting it was Sunday for most of last year's games.

Why do you bother? I'm not planning on it. Give me another 5 years of Rex Grossman is our QB and I'm out until he's not.
If I would really wise up I'd just be gone in spite of the new carrot/QB they dangle on sticks every few years and just be gone until the team is sold.

Why jump the gun on him? Why try to prove Caleb is “all world” right now? Does he not have time?

Clearly it is a foolhardy endeavor to try to prove that Caleb has performed well this season. He has not. Just look at how badly he misses wide open guys, how he seemingly always misses the deep ball by 10 yards or more, give or take, how he has left surefire TD’s on the field, has a fairly poor completion %, how he is holding the ball too long, not reading defenses properly and not seeing wide open guys. And most damning of all, just look at our record. He has not elevated our offense.

Sure, it’s not all on him… but its time that he take his share of the blame. Next year could be different. But by any objective measure this year has been far from stellar for him… and, in many ways, he has not performed very well at all.
