You don’t know if a college player is “truly generational” until after they play several years in the NFL. Hence calling them generational in college is special.
nah, Peyton i knew before he was ever drafted what he would be. but, i agree its a rare thing...hence why it is generational

Generational is a term that should be used looking past tense and not looking forward
I agree you can't tell if someone is generational in NFL production until they have proven it in the NFL. However, there are some players that are generational in terms of college performance or athletic ability. But, neither of those translate into being a generational NFL player. Bo Jackson was generational in terms of raw athletic ability, but so was Tony Mandarich.

In any case, that term is thrown around too casually nowadays.

only when they are truly generational! I.E. - Peyton Manning(the last truly generational QB, we gotta wait a while for the next one!)
You could even tell in his rookie year. Sure he threw alot of INTs, but he also made alot of great throws that made you think that this guy was gonna be a potential HOFer.

It's even worse to keep bringing it up as if it's at all relevant... like people don't blow draft evaluations every year. I don't see why people are so hung up on it. And all it really means is that the person doing the eval thinks the player has a set of tools to have a high ceiling. But people bring up this single word over and over to appear to have a strong argument.... as if Caleb, or anyone, would have been drafted in a different spot had some random pundit decided not to use that word.

I think every fan has acknowledged that his deep passing is concerning... people have been talking about it since very early in the season.
A large portion of this site attacked people that were pointing out Caleb’s issues throwing deep sideline passes to wide open receivers.

The poor reading the field is concerning, the holding the ball too long and running around in circles is concerning. Can an excuse for this be the lousy o line, the terrible coaching, rookie learning mistakes? Maybe some, not all. What I can’t give him any pass on is his beyond awful accuracy. He doesn’t just miss guys, he doesn’t even come close. He has been throwing a football damn near since birth, being a rookie or having bad coaches and o line is no excuse for missing a wide open guy by 10 feet. And he does this over and over, you keep waiting for him to have that one game where he finally starts throwing darts but no. I don’t know if I have ever seen a QB have multiple throws every game where you go “what the fuk is he doing?”

Are people giving him a pass and blaming it on others for his wildly inaccurate passes?

Williams needs to play better. It's ok to admit that. He's struggling.

That was perfectly said.

Not everything is his fault. The o-line isn't great, he's on his second OC this season, and the team as a whole has not performed well.

He has not responded well to it, however. And that's on him.

I don't care to get into it, but I've been even Caleb supporters (myself included) and level headed posters note the concern on the deep passes. I'd always say we need to be patient, but that's not to be confused with attacking or flat out denying that the numbers haven't been good.

Rome was wide open in front of him. Are you saying that Caleb is not tall enough to regularly see his receivers?
He definitely knows where Odunze is.

100% on Caleb because he's still looking for the bigger play on the left that won't materialize because this is the NFL.

The window to get the ball out is short and he needs to learn that. Whether he's being taught that is up for debate.

We will come full circle when defenses start saying that they just need to make Caleb play QB to beat the Bears.
