Why pay Hinrich $3M instead of just keeping Watson for pretty much the same price? He'd only be on the team for another year. Then the following season when rose is hopefully healthy, you have that space to perhaps sign someone better than both of them.

I agree with the financial part but the reason we are going after Hinrich is because he's an ACTUAL PG. Watson is not a PG. Kirk may be viewed as trash, but I can guarantee he would've known the situation in game 6 & NEVER PASSED TO ASIK!

The other reason is he's a former fan favorite. Gotta keep those ticket sales up with D Rose being out!

If Hinrich is what it takes to fill seats, because that's what people wanna go broke to see, then that's just plain sad.
I think it has more to do with Bulls fans love for the UC's 50 dollar Nachos, not Hinrich.
And if it is all about Hinrich, then Chicago fans (not me included) really are dumb like opposing fans say

The Boston Celtics have emerged as a serious suitor for Courtney Lee after coach Doc Rivers met with the free-agent guard Saturday night, according to sources familiar with Boston's thinking.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns, sources said, are the other teams in pursuit of Lee. The Chicago Bulls have long been interested in Lee, as well, but the Bulls' limited financial flexibility means they'd also need a sign-and-trade deal to land the swingman.

Asik for Lee S&T would be amazing

With Kirk agreeing to come here, Lee is a long shot. Also, there are reports that the Celtics have a lot of interest in him and are making a strong push to get him.

Actually, Kirk is viewed as much as a combo guard as CJ is, just with less scoring and more passing. And while he never would've passed to Asik (I think) he probably would've very well missed the free throws himself. We all know how clutch Kirk Hinrich is...

Only slightly imo. He's got the ability to defend multiple positions which CJ can't, but CJ has probably twice the athleticism at this point. So strictly at the PG spot, I'd probably take CJ over Kirk. :dunno:

disagree, i think cj might be more athletic, but that doesn't really mean that kirk isn't a better defender

kirk is still a really good defender imo

Ummm, the Bulls did finally get their guy. If you ever thought anybody but Hinich was the "Bulls guy", you were only fooling yourself.

Well I didn't say Kirk wasn't good, I just said that CJ might be a better defender for the PG position overall. Reason being athleticism. We know Kirk struggles with quick PGs and you're seeing a lot more of those now. Against the slower bigger guards, Kirk is way better, but against the Ty Lawsons and Russell Westbrooks and Jrue Holidays of the NBA, he's going struggle and everyone's going to hate him for it despite KNOWING that he isn't good against that type of player. Now guarding Dwyane Wade...since we're probably losing Brewer, he's our best defender against him.

They already have Jason Terry and Avery Bradley...Lee is kinda redundant don't you think?

And I always figured the only way Lee would come here would be to S&T Asik for him...but that was highly improbable to begin with.

Bradley and Terry both play minutes at PG as well as SG. Plus, the Celtics need to get a bigger 2 guard. Bradley is 6'2 and Terry is 6'2. Throw in Rondo who is 6'1, that is one tiny back-court.

Fair enough. Wonder who gets the start...
