And baseball was stupid then.

If you are going to do something wonky it should be based on what league wins the Interleague games.

Then it'd always be the American League  Which is what happened also when the ASG rule was first implemented anyway.

There were many things baseball had never done...

1. Throwing overhand
2. Allowing infield fly rule
3. The designated hitter
4. Instant replay review
5. Letting black people play

So therefore because baseball decided to be traditionally illogical they should keep right on doing it?
Again my only argument is that baseball has never used record to determine homefield advantage in the WS. Why is there outrage over this method as opposed to the old system of alternating leagues? Hell prior to the Wild Card era wasn't even the league championship series done by alternating divisions (I know it was for a while since that is one of the great myths about the Cubs that they got screwed out of homefield advantage in 84 due to not having lights).

I understand your argument. I'm saying that the argument is flawed because nothing baseball did ever awarded the team that did the best in the regular season and therefore the system needs to be fixed. Baseball is too reticent to change. It's a minor quibble but it's still a legitimate topic because you simply don't give the best team the reward they deserve.

In fact, forcing in the extra wild-card playoff might have screwed the higher seeds due to the stupid 2-3 format in order to eliminate a travel day. Baseball does some stupid shit and it's worth it to point it out.

I would have no problem with baseball going to a format where the best team is awarded homefield advantage. I just think the outrage is dumb given what was being replaced as the system before.

I'm sure there was similar outrage when players started pitching overhand and when they went from nine balls to four to set up a walk  The outrage isn't what's dumb; baseball is.

All right I have never said that the ASG determining homefield advantage is smart. It replaced a system that was just as dumb was my only point, and that everyone's default opinion on all things ASG should be indifference.

The default opinion should not be indifference if an exhibition game affects the championship of the leagues, whether directly or indirectly.
