Is it time to be worried about goaltending yet? I know that Emery has been solid, but Crawford's inconsistency worries me.

when no team lower than a 5 seed has won the cup since 91 and only 2 8th seeds made it to the cup, and no 8th seed has ever won the cup plus add the fact that emery is our starting goalie with a bad defense its tough to be optimistic.

With a couple good win streaks the Hawks could move up to higher in the standings, but teams without a solid goaltender usually don't get far the in playoffs.
Goalies win championships. Tim Thomas was outstanding. Niemi played well when he had to. Osgood was a great goalie. Fleury is one of the best.

as i believe goalies arent at a premium, a lot of the time the defense makes the goalie look a lot better. osgood wasnt the greatest thing, but look what he had in front of him for years. i do think we need better than an emery, since i agree, in the playoffs goalies have to steal games. a goalie win!

I agree that Osgood wasn't that great, but he won a lot of games.
Emery isn't good enough. Crawford last year was good enough, so do you put faith in the fact that he'll step up or do you just go with Emery who is average?
Agree that you need a goalie who can win games for you. Hawks don't have that.

well I agree that we dont have a goalie to make up for the lack of defense, that is for sure. If someone thinks a try out based FA goalie is going to win the cup this year, they are crazy, so I agree.
