Ah yes ... the recurring analyzing the hell out of the 4th line drama. (Which was a couple of days back).

I had been missing that.

Bickell is an decent third line guy. I still want my 4th line, checking-centric. . . and think one or the other - Kopecky or Stalberg will be gone for next season -my guess is that it might be Kopecky since Stalberg has some raw skills that Kopecky doesn't (i.e. speed).

I agree with you on that... the way they talk, the Hawks have been trying to dangle Kopy out there hoping to get at least something in return but havent... so may just cut ties after this season.

He has made plays, and isn't afraid to throw a hit. His style of play definately fits this Hawk's system.

stalberg

I cannot wait for stalberg to get some assts and or goals being on the line with toews and kane so I can dismantle the people who say " look at how good he is when he is on a good line with a lot of mins" because those same people are saying "kopecky only has his numbers because he plays on a line with hossa" CONTRADICTION

I don't think I've been one of the people you mention, but I'll say Stalberg can certainly create for himself due to his speed. I like how he's been pushing the puck in open areas more and blowing by guys to get it. I'm not so sure he has the hands to do what you say, as he'd had some time on the top line, but I sure as shit hope so.

still not sure how you label him a dissapointment....but i understand where your frustration comes from with him.

He is definitely a project...

The term disappointment comes with an underlying expectation. It kinda has to, no? I'm not going to speak for Dews regarding what his expectation is for Vik. If one sees the world through Joe's eyes, that one might say Crawford has been a disappointment (I'm not referring to Dews here, simply making a point).

As for project, I'm not so sure "hands" magically appear at this point for him. :dunno: We'll see (time will tell) and hope.

He has been better defensively.

im not an optimist when it comes to the sox and hawks, but i am not extreme like joe.

i just call it how i see it. I see a guy with good strides from stop to go, but his stick handling and ability to skate in other fashions than just straight is pretty bad. the problem with versteeg was he would dangle too much, always made one extra move, stalberg cannot seem to make one move.

crawford has exceeded all expectations, and as predicted, by icehog and i, he has been playing too much and fatigue/weardown affect is starting to show.

Oh, I agree completely with the two of you. He has definitely been overworked.

Edit: Oh, and I cannot say I've come across a ton of extremists as Joe.

as extreme as he is, i like the guy.

i much rather would want to listen to a negative person than a homer who is a team apologist and believes everything is "rainbows and butterflies"

I just dont see Stalberg as a dissapointment when he has been sitting on the 4th line all year...

Is Pisani and Johnson a dissapointment too?

Now if he had been on the top line all year and still put up these numbers, then I would call him a dissapointment

Wouldn't it be sweet if Pisani went into playoff beast mode again like he did with Edmonton years ago? How unreasonable of an expectation is this?:pray:

As for Johnson, I'll admit I have to eat some crow. If you wanted to go back and look, I expressed how the signing ought to have been a depth signing solely for Rockford and I hoped he wouldn't ever have to be called upon to fill a role in the big time. With my low expectations of him in mind (and no I wasn't playing the bs low expectation game), he has been a very valuable asset.

Stalberg has had some time with on the top line. Q took him off that top line because teams were really taking liberties against TK when they were together. He had his first fight earlier this month, but I don't see him being an answer for this nor do I think 1 fight automatically means he's turned the corner. It might work on some match-ups, but I don't see it consistently working until he proves he's grown some sackage. A NA will probably have to be an anchor on the line as long as TK stay together (and there I show a little old timer prejudice).

Crunch time in the season and he's playing with a legitimately fantastic line... if he can't produce with 19 and 88, there's something wrong.

predictable comment.

So when he scores a few (doubtful) but lets say he does and gets some points, you cannot say in the same breath kopy sucks and he only is good because of being on the line with hossa, and than say...look at how stalberg is when he is with toews and kane......because you are one of those who think kopys stats are all because of hossa.

plain and simple, no matter where either of them play, they both still suck. end of story

I'm over the getting upset about Kopecky. The guy isn't great and he's not a point producer. OK. He's good on the boards, he can get dirty in front of the net and he plays hard all the time. Not everyone is going to put up 60+ points. Fine player.

Stalberg- I don't know what his deal is. He will have incredibly brief flashes of either speed, hands or grit but never anything even close to resembling a steady display of skills. Like I said earlier... looking forward to seeing him on the top line just out of curiosity.

Fav 'Hawk player: Has to be Toews. I've always loved him since they drafted him. I knew he was better than Kane. He's also one of the best all-around players in the NHL. MVP!

Leas Fav 'Hawk player:Campbell gets my vote. While he has shown some improvement, I just never got over the fact that he's overpaid for his talent. He's decent on the powerplay, but I think Leddy will end up being a better defender in the future than Campbell.

Even if he doesnt score with toews and kane, I will still like him and want him on our team...he is a project player....he needs to develop his skills more

and Kopecky is a product of his linemates around him
