nWith Stalberg though you have to take into account what Toronto was doing with him. Tornto was using him in the AHL to be a top 6 forward, an once injuries happened they called him up to be a top 6 forward.

Now in Chicago he is getting groomed into a big physical player which will eventually earn him a shutdown role with Bolland.

Hey, lets argue about it.

They both played strong games last night and they were both surrounded by good players. Shocking how that works.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
One player I like a lot is Jake Dowell. The player I'm disappointed in is Marty Turco, but thank goodness for Corey Crawford, Keith, and Seabrook.

I'm not surprised with Turco at all. Hes been on the downswing for a couple years now.

Is it possible to rip on the entire team all year for being very crappy in the 3rd period?

Praise:
Ryan Johnson. Since he has camein he has been vy productiveas a 4th line player. Though he doesn't put the offensive numbers up, he has a very high face-off percentage, and has really helped on the PK

I blame management/GM.

Rip away at me if you want.

Let me preface this by saying that everyone knew the Blackhawks would be in salary hell after last years season ended. This was known well before that season even began so it was going to be a tough offseason. Nonetheless, these people are graded on their ability to put a team together and I think they whiffed on most of their moves in the past 18+ months.

- Kane's contract shouldn't of even been CLOSE to Towes. Towes is 50 times the player Kane is. Kane is brilliant on offense, below average on the forecheck, and awful on defense. Towes is brilliant to above average on all three categories.

- I can't rip Kane without slighting ripping Hossa. I have a huge man-crush on Hossa since the signing but he hasn't lived up to his reputation either. His forechecking, defense, and puck control are absolutely unbelieveable, but he really needs to shoot the puck more.

- The Hjalmarsson signing was a complete reactionary move because San Jose wanted him. I like the kid but is he worth his contract?

- Seabrooks recent signing, don't get me started. Seabrook have played below average all season long.

- What we lost: Let me state that I'm okay with losing Neimi, Versteeg, Eager, and Byfuglien. WIth the wasted money from the Kane/Hjalmarsson contracts, we could have kept Ladd, Sopel, or Madden. Ladd, especially, would have been worth it.

Regardless, I hope we stay at the 8th seed so we get Vancouver. They don't want anything to do with us. :) Can you say Montreal vs. Washington? :rimshot:

Cant really blame management for this season, if anything they actually did an ok job putting the team together (with the money available). 4+ mil comes off the cap next year and the salary cap is expected to increase.

This team also was very rarely at 100% this year. Campbell started the year out on te IR, then Hossa went down along with others all throughout the year. Once those guys got back to 100% the team was on a tear, and now are dealing with 3 key players out.

The more I look at it the more I am ok with the Seabrook signing. The guy has stepped up his game and took his style to a different level. Not only is he our shut down guy, but he can also run the PP now, and put up 40 points.

As far as the players gone I agree on Ladd, the others have been replcaced. Sopel was a shot blocking D-man, and we got Campoli in here to do that who is younger and cheaper. Management also took a shot on Ryan Johnson whos has been excellent in the Hawks sweater, even on his face-offs, also helped out with the PK. Management also went out to get highly regarded goalie prospect Alex Salak, and Mike Frolik from Florida for pretty much garbage.

You have beef with Kane Hjalmarsson and Seabrook (this one I really don't get) and then long for Sopel and Madden?

They're grindy dammit! You can't deny the desire for more grindy players! Normally that's the joke there but he has a slight point to there.. yet really the Sopel argument isn't relevant now that they do have a full D core.

The Ladd move still was the most disappointing to see.
