They have the same velocity and can have similar movements so I can see why it would have problems with it. Especially since splits can do funky things if you the pressure on the ball is weird.

Today I am not, but his slider has been in the mid 80s plenty of times this season especially when he has gotten hit hard.his slider is about 3-5 MPH slower then his Splitter. What you guys watching

Slider and splitter, especially if they have up-and-down motion rather than a horizontal motion like some sliders, look almost the same and they're at almost the same speed according to Gameday.

maybe it helped when i pitched i had slider and splitter. So i feel there is a huge difference

The velocity difference isn't huge and especially the games he has been hit hard they start getting awfully close. That is why the pitchf/x computer system has a hard time distinguishing between the two is all we are trying to say.

I think the split is supposed to dive towards the ground. Slider does the same but depending on release point it has some horizontal movement. The lack of horizontal movement on Samardzija's slider is probably causing the confusion with the equipment.

They are very much two different pitches, but with how Shark can throw them the gap can be a mile or two at the most. And the movement at times can be similar.
