Apparently he forgot to cover first or else he would've been in line for a no-hitter.

Really? Dumb Samardzija. I really hope Sveum doesn't pull him unless he starts to get into some trouble. A Cub pitcher hasn't had a shutout since Wells did last season.

Rizzo seems to be having trouble against the Pittsburgh southpaws.

All part of the learning curve I suppose. he's gonna have some ups and downs this season.

Extra run for Shark to remain in the game and get his 1 hit shutout.

Sounds like Marmol is getting ready. I don't know how many innings Samardzija has so far this year (including today) but he's approaching his professional best and he already has almost 100 pitches tonight.

I hope Samardzija gets the chance to go back out there. It's a career day for him. A gem. SHARK! SHARK! SHARK!

Stupid Marmol! Did Cy Young ever worry about pitch counts? He did pretty good.

Cy Young might not have thrown as many sliders or changeups

Yeah, maybe. I don't remember. It is just odd how those guys could pitch forever back then and now there is 5 man rotations and pitch counts. Now we get to watch Marmol load the bases before getting 2 outs.
