The replay is up on Gameday. It looked like the original throw to get the out at 2B was fine, but the throw back to first was terrible. The ball bounced off the glove, Maholm, or both and trickled well behind where the 1B would've been and allowed Barney to score easily.
Yeah it just was a really weird play to watch in original time.

The fact that there isn't more buzz around him giving how hot he is and a very team friendly option is surprising to me.

Maybe an injury concern plus they don't trust that Maholm is that good.

We were, and Dempster isn't getting traded yet... :smug: :cubstroll:

And whose fault is that...

Mather is in for LaHair. I am guessing it is just a defensive switch, but it is interesting that he got switched in right after LaHair struck out and not part of a double switch.

Endgame, need better defense I guess plus you leave Reed on the bench as the better pinch-hitter.

Though they probably should've gone with the double-switch  Maholm is about to lose the shutout.

WHile I believe it is the right call, isn't it amazing how the Cubs are making a defensive switch in the OF not involving Soriano.

Mather made a nice play to get the out to keep the Cubs lead. Both plays to him have been a bit of an adventure.

Maholm streak of quality starts remains intact, and still has a shot at continuing his streak of wins as a southpaw.
