Sveum is an idiot.... that's all I can say.

Why? Because his well-regarded righty reliever (Cabrera) forgot how to throw strikes? Because he decided not to use James Russell earlier in the game than normal? Look at this team, and look at the fact that they got 5.1 IP out of Germano who was basically a DFA waiting to happen and was probably on a pitch count. Pinning this on Sveum isn't exactly fair considering what he has to work with.

Yes, Maine does not come in with bases-loaded. He can't trhwo strikes and really never has. I would have kept Cabrera in or use Russell. That's what I think and I will stick with it all the way.

It's a relief pitcher, it could really go either way

Vitters flyout in his pinch-hit appearance. Solid contact but just not far enough.

To say that Scott Maine "can't throw strikes" doesn't really work because he has a K/9 rate of 11.1 entering today. Maybe they leave Cabrera in the game against Loney but Cabrera couldn't throw strikes either, plus you can't guarantee that Russell won't get shelled either. Reliever volatility being what it is, can't really blame the manager for how shitty his roster/bullpen is constructed, although I guess that's part of the plan as we secure a top 3 draft spot

I liked that Brett Jackson hit. Too bad it wasn't hard enough to score DeJesus from 2B, but only one out, Rizzo up with the bases juiced.

Russell might have got shelled, but they would have earned it by hitting the runs in. He doesn't walk many and would have expect him to throw strikers. I don't care what the stats say, he does trhwo a lot of ball. From what I've seen, when people are on base is where he throws more...

Oh wait, I guess that was Barney, not DeJesus. Silly me.

That's way too extreme. He'll be a useful player for sure but he's not nearly at Trout's level.

Nice route to track down that deep fly though.

I don't expect this to be the norm, but the 1-2 guys (DeJesus and Jackson) reached base six times altogether.

And James Russell just blew the save.

Is there anyone in this bullpen that is not scared to throw a fastball?

Probably Marmol will throw a fastball. It just won't be guaranteed to be a strike

:woot: Error in our favor!
