This weather sucks b/c we just endured 6 months of total shit, dating back to last Halloween when it snowed.

So by May we expect better, only it never gets better b/c the Great Lakes insure cool temps until June.

Then by July/August it's too humid, and therefore there are really only 2 decent months in Shitcago...June and September.

You know another piece of infrastructure we should invest in as a Nation.... water pipelines and pumping stations.... we get floods in some parts of the U.S..... if you can build pipelines from Canada to the Gulf to pump oil, why not push flood water surplus through some stations that clean it up and then send it out West to where our farmers and other citizens need it?
It's not that simple--I work in the industry. Outside of precise distillation there's no real way to clean up water that has such a broad spectrum of nasty shit that would happen in a flood-and that level of distillation is fucking expensive. Even most street catch basins for stormwater runoff usually have some filtration that's tailor made to get whatever's spcifically caught there to get it to the point of discharge--unless it's combined with raw sewage and treated that way--and even then people are really reticent on drinking recycled water (even though virtually all of the water that's on earth now has always been here and is thus recycled dinosaur piss).

The other problem is that the climate, and thus the groundwater aqufiers, have been relatively stable. Places that get floods usually need floods to keep their groundwater level stable. Shipping that water somewhere else can seriously reduce the goundwater levels in the area you ship from. Coincidentally, this is why collecting rainwater and hoarding rainwater is illegal in places--but that's another topic. :). Coincidentally, this is why i'm infurated at the recent story about people throwing car parts into the lava tube that drains Lost lake in the central cascades to try to stop it draining every year--the lake that drains every summer goes to recharging the cental cascades aquifer--again, another topic.

IMHO the best way to help alleviate the drought problems is to do a lot more groundwater recharge as post-wastewater/stormwater treatment. Still, it's expensive, people don't like the thought of drinking what was once shit and piss (even though they're going it already), and it would take a lot of studies to find the best loactions to rechage the aquifers.

Hot as balls here now. The cool 80 degree days were nice while they lasted.

Did the police chase you out of the state or something?

Jeanne, Frances, Charlie, and Wilma did...along with about a million other residents.

Plus the building boom was over.

19 days gone so far this month and Denver has had 2 days without rain, and there's been 6 inches of snow.

Would I prefer Iowa or some terrible disease?...

*Flips coin*

Got any better options other than the earthquake, hurricane, and tsunami prone Dominican Republic?.
