This is for all the noobs that say 'You have to build up the OL before getting a franchise guy'

This offseason, they have added:

Orlando Brown
Joe Thuney
Creed Humphrey
Austin Blyth
Kyle Long

Moral of the story, the Bears OL doesn't have to be perfect for Fields. It was always unrealistic to think Pace could address OL, WR and QB all in one offseason. He addressed the biggest question mark in finding a franchise QB and now can build around him as the years go on. Bears OL isn't perfect but it's workable. Leno will have to start for another season and Bears can address LT in FA or the draft next season.

The Bears should solidify the rest of the 52 man roster before thinking about a QB if they want to do this thing right!
I know, playing it safe wins Super Bowls. If you look at like the last 20 SB's all of those rosters were full of All Pro's and just average QBs..

One of the many thing that has been missing from the Bears the last 2 years is depth. The best teams have depth! Look at the 2017 Eagles vs the 2020 Chiefs. The Chiefs Oline had no depth and it proved itself in the SB

The problem with Pace always trading up is he losses draft depth and needs to fill will castoffs from other teams.

I think the Bears Oline will be average till they lose a couple guys to injury.

In fairness to the 2020 chiefs, the had several guys opt out due to covid and then had injuries at 4 of the 5 starting spots on the line and also one of the backups I believe. No team has the depth to overcome that

The issue is that Pace hasn't drafted well. He simply hasn't. It's not just him always throwing picks away. It's that a lot of the time, those trades haven't translated into good players. Him missing on top 10 picks 3 times is a killer because those are supposed to end up being your blue chip players. Kevin white wasnt even a contributor. At best Floyd was a run stopper with an occasional sack. You don't draft that as an edge rusher in the top 10. Trading the picks to get the #2 overall wasnt the problem. Drafting the wrong QB was.

Misses add up over time. Especially when they're high rounders. Then you start to overcompensate in FA and trades.

The Bears dont just have a depth problem. They've had a starting roster problem. They've had two bad tackles and a leaking interior. The TE issues have been well known outside of Grahams redzone production. The QB, obv.

Ryan Pace has found some really nice late round talent, which has led to some completely overrating his overall ability to draft. Im sorry but i've been saying it for years, the lack of blue chip players is alarming. Mack, Robinson, Hicks, Trevathan, Fuller. These are arguably the 5 best and most consistent players the Bears have had the past few years and not one of them is a Pace draft pick. Roquan is finally becoming one of those guys but they need more of that.

There are a couple positions that need to be great to really improve the rest of your team. 1 is obviously the QB. 2 is a dominant D lineman. 3 is a premier LT. We saw how the Bears looked in 2018 when the QB was playing decent(until week 11) and Mack was destroying OLs and getting to the QB early and often. Everything looks better.

The Bears need more consistent drafting and smarter spending if they want to see sustained success.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Their offseason OL additions are more about how good teams know just how important protecting your QB is, giving him and the offense time for plays to develop, giving your RB holes, and affording your WRs time to run their routes.

Neglecting your OL is terrible. It's great that Pace picked up an early OT, but just like QB, this should have been addressed sooner.

This ......100%
Want to know another way to sabatoge your roster....

Continually trade picks to lock onto one player continually leaving your draft class small.....means you better hit on a high% of players.

This year, if he doesn't nothing we'll have a 6 man class....2 above pick 150.....thats a horrible way to build and maintain a roster....he's also down 2 picks next year as well (but it was needed for the qb)

We'll see how it plays out but he could have had

Radunz + Brown vs Jenkins.....and an extra pick remaining this year

You're the first person i've ever seen say that. I'd love some more info to back this up.

It happens every season. Injuries happen in the NFL. Every SB winning team has lost starters. It’s depth that keeps the train rolling.

What kind of logic is this? That doesn't mean depth wins championships. Its just something that happens to every team.
