the problem was you get a lot of salt in that soup so the tomato sauce requires you put in more salt in your stew. also, stop putting beans in your chili.

**** off, I live beans in my chili. Plus, beans are good for you

Just put it back in the pot and simmer in some more salt. Add that reconstituted pepper puree from my recipe and then thank me that u didnt waste good food that 1CObearsfan could have eaten because it has beans in it...

Lol, hes lucky i cant negrape on my phone.

Its's pretty simple, buy some of those bigass dried peppers you see in the mex aisle at the store, boil them for ten minutes in water, strain, throw in blender, pour in your pot of "chili" and simmer. I believe in you.

Made a beanless chili last night as a shout out to HHM...turned out good. Still feel a beanless chili is something I would use as a topping to a hot dog or pasta, where a chili with beans adds a level of heartiness that can be eaten by itself. Either way I like both styles.

Did you make it thin like a hot dog chili?

It was thicker than hot dog chili...if I was going to do it specifically for hot dogs I would have added some beef broth to thin it out. What I made would have gone great on a plate of pasta with some freshly shaved parmesan on top

Ah I gotcha, so it came out more like a bolognese.

I believe chili has no beans, but my chili is still hearty. I like to make rustic food. I dont chop my seasonings or anything super small. I like my customers see what they are eating. See and taste the freshness of everything being hand cut or homemade. My suggestion if you want it hearty without beans dont chop up the ground meat so fine. Leave it chunkier. You dont want your seasoning to big but also not to small. A nice medium dice. My seasoning(onions, celery, bell pepper, and garlic). I also cook down my liquid a lot and sprinkle it with flour to really thicken it and make it feel heavy. Just a few suggestions of mine.

Yes only with less tomato sauce...the beef wasn't chopped to fine so it was a little more chunky, the peppers (green bell and jalepeno) were chopped not too small but not big by any means, diced tomatoes added color and texture. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious as a bowl by itself with some cheddar and sour cream...but I think adding some kidney beans would have made it more hearty. I personally like the beans in the chili, but it really comes down to what type of mood I am in.

I have more of an issue with sour cream, cheddar cheese, hotdog, pasta, or cornbread being needed for chili than beans in the chili.

Chili needs to stand on it's own.
