Because Keith never asked for a big payday when he wasn't really deserving of one. He never asked for a big payday right after making an embarrassing play.

How many Cups did Campoli bring to the Hawks again? Keith brought us one after getting 7 of his teeth knocked out. In a nutshell, that's why Keith gets the benefit of the doubt and Campoli doesn't.

Did it really need to be asked in the first place? I mean c'mon. Just sayin'

Thats ridiculous. So what Keith got us the cup, Campoli came and got us into the playoffs. Keith also played like shit all season but thats ok because he lost 7 teeth and got us a cup. Dude take off the homer glasses

Well to be honest Campoli was alot better on the Hawks last year than Keith was. But why is it ok for Keith to make mistakes all season long, but Campoli gets bashed for 1 turnover?
I was one to criticize Keith's backwards play all year last year, but he'll be back to make up for that.

Does anyone think Campoli is going to be remembered as a Hawk more for the small amount of time he played here rather than that turnover? I'm going to have to go with the latter on that one.

And if he doesn't, how many plays does it take for him to start getting the heat?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats
Nothing in his play, but the contracts other dman were getting might have meant that he was holding out for more than he deserved.
Exactly...how can people not ask for more money when wiz got that contract?
I don't see what the hate is on him. He played excellent after we got him from Ottawa. He went out and played in every situation even getting top minutes with Seabs at the end. To judge him based on that 1 turnover is a joke. Is he worth more than 2.5 mil, no, but shouldn't be ripped because he was a big reason we got into the playoffs.

If players are judged on turnovers, than I bet after this season Hawks fans are just dieing to get rid of Duncan Keith.
Agree...it was just an unfortunate play...credit to Burrows for actually making that play
Since when did we start evaluating players based on one play?
:dunno:
Really. Keith was a fucking turnover machine last year. In actuality, "the turnover" by Campoli was a terrible bad break as he played it properly....off the glass high which almost never gets turned back the other way. I thought he played well overall but it sounds to me like he'd rather line his wallet with bills than play for a potential Cup. If that is truly the case....ceeya, we don't need ya.
Yep...just a good play by Burrows

Greed screwed Niemi outta chicago last year too, so maybe we can expect 60 thousand articles on Campoli from Jesse Rogers now...

Ok so we as fans aren't allowed to like the guy and give him the benefit-of-the doubt after he showed us that he was a warrior in helping bring us something that some fans lived and died without?

We're supposed to treat him worse than some nobody who was here for a cup-of-coffee just because he had an off year?

Wow Campoli helped us into the playoffs. Whoop-dee-friggin-do. I guess we should put the Minnesota Wild up on the same pedestal?

Give me a break.

If he was this so called "warrior" what happened? Never said you had to treat him worse in any post I made. Simply stated you can't judge that 1 play on Campoli, and if you do you need to treat the others tha way to who are supose to be our "warriors" and "top players." Like others said Campoli did everything fundamentally sound, Burrows just made the play happen, and if you watched the playoffs, you seen Vancouver made it so far because of bounces like that. Thats hockey, those streaks happen, but to blame it on Campoli is a joke

I'm not "blaming" Campoli for anything. He is not the scapegoat. But, to me his final play as a Hawk wasn't any less embarrassing or disgusting just because he wasn't the goat per se.

Yes, it is a joke.

The guy isn't coming back to the team so people are joking about his turnover.

EXACTLY. We're not crucifying the guy. But, this money grubbing just because the CBJ GM is a moron doesn't make him any more deserving of what it looks like he's asking for.

He's leaving on a bad note. Because his final play was a joke (literally) and because his contract negotiations are looking to be a joke as well.

Either way Campoli made the right play, Burows gave that extra 110% and made a play happen. Say what you want about Campoli, if you dont think he helped this team, and doesn't deserve that raise, then your out of your mind.

He did help the team.

He deserves the raise but, I don't think he's worth the 3 million per he's asking for. The market was inflated because the Blue Jackets' GM is a complete moron for giving Wiz the kind of money he got.

Campoli and his agent are trying to capitalize on this inflated market. It's probably going to backfire on Campoli the same way it did Niemi (before he got the extension from SJ.). To the average person on the outside looking in, it doesn't paint him or his agent in a very good light.

Combine that with the last play that Hawks fans will remember him by is that turnover, and he's getting hammered.

And rightfully so.

Can't blame the guy for going to make the money. If i was a defender I woul do the same, after the Buff contract Defenders started asking for more and more, If GM's want to pay the money then so be it.

Nice excuse for Crapoli. He fucked up & Burrows made him pay.

Puck should've been out.

FWIW, turnovers happen all of the time in hockey... so this one resulted in a series winning goal in OT, but getting on a guy making turnovers pretty much means that some fans are going to be perpetually bitter at everyone.

Otoh, imho, these people are from the same crowd as those that don't get why players come off the ice after about a minute or 90 seconds.

Of course, they are all experts too. :talktohand:

Frankly it is kind of embarassing.

____

Edit - I get the sense that some people -despite their avs - can't reconcile that a turnover in hockey isn't the same thing as a fumble in (wth -I'll say it in Australian -for urinary purposes)... gridiron...

Want evidence? Get out a set of the 4 games the Hawks won against Philly in 2010... happened all of the time - in fact I seen Campbell make quite a few, Sopel having the puck bounce around on his skates in the crease of all places, like a pinball... etc...

passes picked off, etc - it's the way hockey is played, it is a fast game, and one that is highly instinctual - nothing is ever perfect on the ice -and frankly speaking..

Feces Happens... that's life on a rink at any level. No idea where some of these odd ideas about "perfection" come from? Too much Wii maybe, where every pass is one the tape??? Rofl... ok...
