LOL, I guess i'll have to re-post what I said. This team was going down hill because of our lack of D, and Keith playing like shit.
-Campoli comes in becomes top pair guy with Seabrook.
-Campoli plays very well for Hawks playing in every situation and helping the PK get better.
-Defense gets deeper Hawks start winning.

Yeah Minnesota won a game, but without that Defense not tightning up the Hawks dont get the point to get back into contention.

Now lets here a counter argument from you... at least tellmehow Campoli wasn't a big part of this team...

I was a big fan of Campoli's when he came to Chicago, and was defending his ass when the clowns were trying to pin the entire Vancouver series defeat on him.

But he was NOT worth what he's asking for. I don't blame Campoli for trying to take advantage of the market and make some extra bucks (don't do that for ANY athlete), but his price became more than the Hawks needed to pay, and I'm not sad to see him go.

Don't know how many of you read Second City Hockey, but the guys over there mentioned Lepisto's stats while he played in the AHL ... put up some pretty nice offensive numbers. Will that translate to the pros? No idea. But there could be more of an offensive upside to Lepisto than we've seen.

I agree with everything. Campoli can leave if it means we can lock Sharp up long term. Lepisto's offensive numbers weren't the best in Phoenix, but he hs shown hes very reliabl dfensively, and those offensive numbers will show, I've been a big fan of his

Official as of today as the Hawks walked from his 2.5 arbitration award. I wonder if the organization even bothered attempting to present a case.

$2.5 doesn't seem horrible but I think it's too much for him.

Frolik and Lepisto for a total of $3 mil is much more appealing than Camp for $2.5.

We'll see how it works out.

After failing to agree to terms on a new contract, the Blackhawks have chosen to walk away from defenseman Chris Campoli’s $2.5 million arbitration award. The 27 year old puck-mover will become an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any club. However, the Mississauga native has expressed an interest in joining his childhood team, the Maple Leafs.

Much like with the Clarke MacArthur signing for $1.2 million last summer, the Leafs appear to be in prime position to land a capable young player at a potentially reduced salary should they so choose. The problem lies in the current backlog of potentially seven NHL calibre defensemen already cluttering up Toronto’s blueline. That’s not including Matt Lashoff or top prospect Jake Gardiner, whom GM Brian Burke believes may be ready to see some time with the big club at some point later this year. With that said, it should be noted that through various trades and injuries, the Maple Leafs dressed 10 different names on their blueline in 2010-2011.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Leafs choose to explore this route, as it’s not very often you see talented young players become available for only money, and potentially reasonable money at that. Campoli has developed into a fairly well-rounded second pairing defenseman over the past few seasons, playing 18-20 minutes a night, displaying good offensive instincts and mixing in a little sandpaper to his game as well. For anything around the $1.5 million range, I’d take a gamble on a talented young guy who wants to be a Maple Leaf and let the depth issues sort themselves out through injury or trade later on down the road.

There it is, I knew he wanted to be somewhere other than Chicago

A budget version of Kaberle - comes with a pro-rated amount of offensive statistics too..

E.G. say the Leafs sign this clown at, I dunno, 1/4th the amount they were paying Kaberle ... he would be money back guaranteed to produce 1/4th the numbers... yet still think that he is the next coming of Orr... unfortunately in his case, it would be Roberto Orr, Maitre D at the local Boston Pizza .... but, well I suppose everyone needs to start somewhere....

Could I get you some drinks while you consider your order? Would the kiddies like some crayons to draw on the placemats?

DieHard... hockey analysis isn't personal, of course they would be perfectly welcome.

I just wonder what type of a player he thinks he is, and why there is a disparity in his stats for that type of player. I heard puck mover puck mover, mobile guy, etc when he was here - and I suppose maybe he plays like that -however he seems to be in a career long slump for a puck moving, mobile defenseman, perpetually looking for a new start with a new team. :)

Btw, I miss Boston Pizza's 5 cheese pizza -gotta take my wife there for that when I get back to your continent. :D That, and a Labatt's Blue.... a fresh one, not one that smells like a runover skunk (yes I know that trick :p ).

Yeah, the funny thing is that with the Hawks he was probably playing for the team with the best fit for his skill set. I'll bet ya, if he says I'll sign for 1.7 or 1.8....he's still here. He shot himself in the foot. Just because he won in arbitration doesnt mean any team has to pay him 2.5. What's he gonna get? Maybe someone desperate like Toronto, NYI or even Ottawa might grab him but they sure wont pay him 2.5. Sometimes sports plays out like life where people would rather be a big fish in a little pond than just be another piece of a winning franchise.

BTW, I dont know where you are but if you ever get into Chicago here's a couple of great places for pizza. Lou Malanati's which Im sure you've heard of...actually, if you ever get anywhere in the states you can order from Lou. But my favorite is here.....best pizza but with probably the worst website...EVER. :D

Basically the East Coast of Australia - mid Winter here ... figured Boston Pizza would be specific to Toronto (well it is in Edmonton and Thunder Bay...).

Oh yeah Lou Malnati's - never been there - I used to work in Buffalo Grove (or rather used to have to go up to BG for work a lot) about a million years ago. They got a Gino's West I think -in the suburb I am from ... which is sort of on the fringe of the suburbs ( well it used to be ... it might not be considered that anymore for all I know).

Edited: Too, for all the crap I write about Kansas City ( hey, not entirely my fault- saw Billy Ray Cyrus on tv the other day - had some flashbacks... bad deal there :p :D )... we gotta stop in there for some ribs.

Hm, never noticed you are in Australia.

How did that come about? Any hockey fans/players over there?
