Will he? How much time do you think he gets? Brady has that new owner shine and wants the big name but there is little logic to it. How many 5 win seasons before he gets bored and wants a new toy?

Like schefter said, the raiders are about to pay 3 gms and 4 coaches at the same time.

That division has jim harbaugh, andy reed, and sean payton. They also have Bo Nix, Pat Mahomes, and Justin herbert.

I also still have no clue where they get the qb from. The qb's past shadeur/cam are just downright bad in this draft, and shadeur/cam would have been 2nd rounders last year.

Maybe they trade a first rounder for someone? idk. Risk your career on a retread like justin fields or sam darnold?

It’s all fun and games when the media is laughing at the Bears, but eventually reality will sink in and that comes from losing.

It’s a fine line between being the hottest candidate in years to being a John Schoop disciple who passed on Daniels and Williams to coach some bum.

I can already hear Orlovsky calling him arrogant and foolish all because he wanted control.

same exact crap i just saw on fox gameday tiktok. Howie long said the bears are by far the best job, jimmy johnson said you need a qb to win in this league so the bears are the best job.

Then michael strahan said raiders, because brady.

When your minority owner is all you have going for you, then you are not a good job.

I'm pretty sure Brady is white.

The value in these top flight coaches is that they can get high level QB play from mediocre QB talents.

Sam Darnold at $10M and played at a Pro Bowl level.

Bo Nix wasn't exactly heralded coming out and he clearly outplayed Caleb.

Jared Goff was cast off from LA.

Baker signed for $4M.

Brock Purdy was the last pick.

The top offensive head coaches make their QBs + the Raiders have two pieces that are better than any of the Bears top pieces in Bowers and Crosby.

They're bringing in a new GM and have preached patience in their rebuild with Brady at the helm.

Poles needs a big year next year and has prioritized skill positions over the lines. They need to hit on 4-5 players this off-season to make this roster a legit contender and given Poles batting average thus far - I wouldn't count on it.

Johnson would need to win in year 1 with this setup and given our division - that shit's not ideal in the slightest. Go with Brady + a new GM and you'll have time.

The problem with this thinking is that Johnson had opportunities to go to teams in a very similar situation last season, and passed.

I keep seeing people leaning into the usual truisms of NFL coaching hires (which normally, to be fair, are mostly accurate), but Ben already separated himself as a different kind of candidate last hiring cycle.

Therefore, the standard logic doesn't apply to him, and we need to take seriously what he really is after; if it was just to have his own GM, he could have had that last year.

I believe Ben has said last year he doesn't want to walk into a full rebuild, and he wants a situation where he can win quickly.

Based on his actions, I believe that. I honestly believe the Bears are his #1 target, and the rumors of him going to Jax or LA are his agent's team beginning negotiations through the press for more money from Chicago, and the rumors that Warren isn't sold on him are coming from Warren himself basically negotiating back.

Personally, I believe it is the Bears or bust for Johnson. He will either take the job here in Chicago, or go back to being the OC of the Lions if the Bears fill the position or can't come to an agreement.

I’ve been saying this but don’t count out the Jaguars for Johnson. They check every box if he can bring his own guy with him. Baelke wouldn’t need to be fired he can just be kicked upstairs.

Easy division + low expectations
Owner doesn’t just fire easily
Decent roster + QB who needs redemption
Roster control in this scenario
Florida weather and no taxes

Its prob the jaguars.

Honestly, why does BJ care so much about his own guy? Dude has spent 2.5 years as an OC, he could be brainless when it comes to player personnel.

Trey Lance? Is McVay not capable? Darnold was crappy when the games became important and the pressure went up. Bo Nix went top 12 in a QB heavy draft. Would be top 5 in another draft and still a top pick. It takes both nature and nurture to get this right.

Maybe thats a name tom brady is trying to sell ben johnson on to fix the raiders

Stop and think - no way in hell Johnson takes Trey Lance over Caleb Williams, regardless of GM.

Schefty was pretty adamant the Raiders aren't a fit for BJ. I believe him.

Schefty doesnt know what BJ thinks either. Only him and his agent do at this point. But schefty's hunches do make a lot of sense. Raiders situation is the worst out of all of them. Jimmy Johnson put it simply, its a quarterback driven league.

Who knows, maybe he loves the raiders because of brady. If so thats dumb as hell. I see no way for them to fix their QB situation any time soon.

Sure, you can "luck" into one like noted above, but some of those guys(Goff, Baker) were already pretty good, just needed a perfect situation. There is not a guy like that out there this year, Darnold is the closest but he's proven he's trash under pressure.

I also dont see the titans/browns helping them out and trading away the rights to cam ward/shadeur. Jalen Milroe is awful and cant throw a ball and I believe he's the 3rd qb.

I think you sound stupid.

Just because a couple guys did it and got lucky doesnt mean BJ can. What qb did he develop? Jared goff was a multiple time ~4700 yard passer prior to ben johnson.

I'm guessing you think fields is magically going to learn how not to suck with ben johnson and the raiders?

If the Raiders signed Fields and they got Johnson, he'd probably be pretty good.

Good coaching isn't luck.

On another note I think it’s delusional to think McCarthy is coming here as well. Most national people think he is going to the Saints already. We could be living in a world where we can’t get either Johnson or McCarthy.

In that scenario I’m going Monken. Monken, despite needing a face lift, might be the best fit anyways.

I have monken and Johnson tied would be happy to see if either of them has what it takes to stop this ship from sinking

There's a reason Payton traded for Brees and drafted an early 1st round QB last year, Shanny drafted Lance, McVay traded for Stafford after drafting Goff #1. Vikes drafted J.J. Outside of luck, it sure seems your references all believe they'll be better with 1st round QBs.

Sure seems that you really prefer inductive reasoning over actual tendencies. Might as well bring up Brady while you're at it. I bet he'd like to draft an early 1st round QB as well.
