There's a reason Payton traded for Brees and drafted an early 1st round QB last year, Shanny drafted Lance, McVay traded for Stafford after drafting Goff #1. Vikes drafted J.J. Outside of luck, it sure seems your references all believe they'll be better with 1st round QBs.

Sure seems that you really prefer inductive reasoning.
Payton didn’t trade for Brees

Schefty doesnt know what BJ thinks either. Only him and his agent do at this point. But schefty's hunches do make a lot of sense. Raiders situation is the worst out of all of them. Jimmy Johnson put it simply, its a quarterback driven league.

Who knows, maybe he loves the raiders because of brady. If so thats dumb as hell. I see no way for them to fix their QB situation any time soon.

Sure, you can "luck" into one like noted above, but some of those guys(Goff, Baker) were already pretty good, just needed a perfect situation. There is not a guy like that out there this year, Darnold is the closest but he's proven he's trash under pressure.

I also dont see the titans/browns helping them out and trading away the rights to cam ward/shadeur. Jalen Milroe is awful and cant throw a ball and I believe he's the 3rd qb.

LV is a trainwreck. They need someone who can build a program from the ground up. To that end, I actually think McCarthy is a better fit there than the Bears.

I’m more curious about the interview schedule right now. We have Monken tomorrow and as far as I know that’s it.

Saturday is crazy Flores and the bum from Green Bay.

Still waiting on when Kingsbury (if he does) and Brady interview.

Plus a decision from Freeman which is probably not going to be made public similar to Matt Campbell who has already interviewed.

They have to be going into phase 2 by the 20th. It’s getting close.

I'm most interested in Monken. After that, eh... move onto round 2. =)

I’ve been saying this but don’t count out the Jaguars for Johnson. They check every box if he can bring his own guy with him. Baelke wouldn’t need to be fired he can just be kicked upstairs.

Easy division + low expectations
Owner doesn’t just fire easily
Decent roster + QB who needs redemptionroad t
Roster control in this scenario
Florida weather and no taxes
Since Ben Johnson took over as the offensive coordinator in 2022, the Lions are 15 - 3 in the division and have averaged 29 PPG. Why would Johnson be concerned about coaching in this division where he's had so much success? His easiest road to success is staying in a division he knows so well.

I’m just going off of what media writes I get your logic and want him to come here. Apparently he doesn’t want to go against Daddy Danny twice a year. Plus he is an absolute control freak so can’t deal with some “other GM”. He also thinks his system is so great that he will make Mahomes bow to AOC.

I believe his desire to bring in his own GM is more media-driven. I think that synergy between him and the GM is, and should be, very important, but I don't think it is something he is demanding. Three out of the four teams he interviewed with had an existing GM in place. I don't believe he thinks his system can make a better QB out of Aidan O’Connell than the Chiefs have with Mahomes.

The thing is, those things that have come out about BJ weren't around the last hiring cycle.

I think there's a lot of things at work here, and I believe some of it is Warren and BJs team negotiating through the media, and still others who are self-serving and desperate for the Bears to stay losing, so they float out bullshit in the hopes it scares some of the better candidates away.

There's a lot to take in and navigate - in the case of BJ, I have more trust in the people who got it right the last hiring cycle with regards to him; he seems to be a very unique candidate in that he's not just going to jump at any job. He seems to want one that's perfect for him, and it appears to be the Bears thus far. And I think seeing that, you see a lot of people with their own agendas in the media trying to steer him away from Chicago.

Brady is not signing Justin Fields because he knows he sucks.

Just a point, but if the Raiders signed Fields and had Monken as a head coach, that might actually work out pretty well for them if Monken uses Fields the same way Baltimore uses Jackson. Don't get me wrong - Fields has more limitations, but he also hasn't been in an offense that played to his strengths yet. If you need time to build up a team anyway, starting there isn't a bad idea. Doesn't mean you are married to Fields long term.

Pretty much everything surrounding him is just media speculation. Even the big wigs like schefter dont really know what he wants or thinks.

I want you to be right but the problem is I can’t find one credible report that goes along with this. The Bears aren’t acting like a team that is negotiating with Johnson either. Johnson to the Bears has zero smoke outside of Bears fans wishful thinking.

Wasnt the speculation that he wanted the bears job last year?

same exact crap i just saw on fox gameday tiktok. Howie long said the bears are by far the best job, jimmy johnson said you need a qb to win in this league so the bears are the best job.

Then michael strahan said raiders, because brady.

When your minority owner is all you have going for you, then you are not a good job.
Yeah, this Brady shit is getting annoying. Especially since dipshit Mark Davis still runs the show in LV.

I meant reports since they had their interview.

So the media speculating on crap? All of this is just guesses. Media just assumes he wants vegas because brady is the GOAT.

Even schefter has no clue why he would want vegas.

I hope you’re right. I’m not going off the speculation but more of the “picking up steam” and “frontrunner” reports. Nobody has said it’s a done deal yet obviously.

It would be nice if we could get some type of hope reporting. Ideally on the air Saturday so Brady has to respond to it. I might buy a Warren fat head if that happened.

That's exactly it. That was the speculation. He wanted the Bears job, but went back to the Lions because the Bears kept Eberflus one more year. Which means he is coming here once the Lions are done in the playoffs, if the speculation holds true. Should be noted this was speculation not from the people the peanut gallery would have an issue with, but I believe came from the likes of Breer, Schefty, etc the last hiring cycle.

As you said, its still all just speculation and rumors.

But it is funny that if this is all true, and Johnson is indeed coming here, you have a bunch of Bears fans who have been hurt too many times and have too much PTSD to ever believe that the Bears could be ANYONE'S top choice, let alone the prize coach of a hiring cycle, and then you also have the people in the media who behind the scenes know or at least suspect he is coming here, and are doing everything they can to make him change his mind, for their own reasons and agendas - likely to no avail...
