Am i excited?

Wasn't this one of the 4 guys that you were mad about because he turned us down?

I was just messing with you anyway.

No I never said he turned us down. I said I was concerned that we could be down to our 3/4 option and didn’t have one locked down. That then spiraled out of control cause I fell into the engagement farming trap.

Dan Roushar has a ton of experience and Briggs linked him to us within 48 hours of Johnson’s hiring. I don’t see how anyone could be upset with this hire.

I’d expect the Bears had to step up the money to get this done and they did it it. He was making $1 million at Tulane I believe. So once again hats off to George he wants to win.

Not exactly.

I never ranked the coaches. I have said I don’t know who they are. I’m just not being positive about this process for oline coach.

He wanted Fraley he said no.
He interviewed the ND oline coach he said no.
The Frye guy was at least interviewed but is now gone.

We are left with a non committed Dan R who Dennis’s Allen fired.

I’m sorry if I’m not thrilled about this situation.

You said you never ranked the coaches but then said Fraley and the ND coach said no which suggests you think they were options 1 and 2.

You then said we are left with an uncommitted Dan R which suggests we were dealing with table scraps. You then said you are not thrilled by the situation.

Nevermind that Johnson never claimed Fraley or the ND dude was No 1 and Roushar was always noted as one of the favorites if not the favorite for the job as you admit. So not idea why you werent thrilled except that you clearly were overreacting to the situation like a Swiftee trying to buy tickets to one of her concerts.

No that’s exactly what I said. I never ranked the coaches you’re making assumptions which is a you problem. It is true that Fraley said no and that the ND guy said he wants to stay at ND. Fraley was the top OC choice not even oline, but I assume he would have hired a young assistant for oline coach but who knows for sure.

That left Frye and Roushar based on who we knew they interviewed correct? Frye had then just took a job so my concern then became what do we do if Roushar says no?

Yes I was concerned that because Allen had just fired him he might not want to come here. I never called him table scraps again that’s an assumption by YOU.

I think that I had valid concerns but at the end of the day money talks and we got it done.

Before you go searching again yes I called him a Grandpa who was being indecisive. Turns out he was just a Grandpa who knows how to negotiate.

A million for an OL coach at a non-Power 5 school? That sounds unbelievable.

That's more than many head coaches make at that level.

No you were making assumptions and then getting concerned because of them.

1. You have no proof we ever seriously considered Fraley. Most of the Fraley talk was just wishful thinking from Bears fans. He never interviewed with the Bears so not sure how you know he said no to the Bears. He said he was staying in Detroit not necessarily because the Bears were interested but because Lions and Bears fans were speculating.

2. Rudolph also never interviewed with the Bears as far as I am aware so again you were taking media speculation as fact. Unless you saw where an interview was requested and he declined.

3. It was pretty obvious Frye taking the other job likely meant Frye already knew the Bears were not picking him so not sure why that would worry anyone.

4. Roushar was always noted as the favorite not any of the 3 above and so until he said no there was no real reason to get concerned.

1. Yes I was listening to the media what else am I supposed to do?

3. It worried me because we were down to one candidate who had not committed yet. So which is it was I worried we would not get Roushar or was I worried he was table scraps?

4. Roushar was noted as the favorite by who? Was it….THE MEDIA???

1. You could have ignored it given we never asked to interview him and thus he never declined an interview.

2. You could have ignored it given we never asked to interview him and thus he never declined an interview.

3. You made it appear like he was our 3rd choice because you claimed Fraley and Rudolph told us no. So I am being facetious in describing our 3rd choice as table scraps. Also several people told you Roushar was still the favorite so instead of getting concerned you could have listened to voices of reason.

4. Except it was confirmed he interviewed unlike Fraley or Rudolph. You see the difference? If the Bears are serious they request an interview.

I said all I can say. I am flattered so many are still thinking about my Sunday February 2nd oline coaching thoughts. I must, however, move on now.

I’m very happy with the staff I don’t see how anyone could be angry with it today. Since I don’t really care who Allen hired as assistants you can find more fun thoughts from me on free agency and trade threads.

Keep taking your vitamins and don’t do drugs.
