Vrabel is a good coach but the Bears ability to grade an interview is worrisome. Remember when we got Trestman instead of Arians due to a mock interview. I'm afraid that could very easily happen again. Some people don't interview well even though their track record may speak for itself and they are successful. Ben Johnson is no doubt the hot name but someone like Coen with a good staff I wouldn't hate. Carroll would be a bridge that would make us a respectable team at very least. Johnson to me has one of the lowest floors.
I am against Carroll - this team needs stability, true. The best thing for Caleb Williams right now is to get the coaching staff together that will maximize his potential and his performance for the next decade. I just don't see old Pete being here for a decade, you know?

I like Vrabel because he did better than Chicago has now, with QBs that were clearly never going to compete for a superbowl unless everything else around them was going just right (like a Joe Flacco situation). I like Ben Johnson because he got better results out of Goff than what McVay could, which is a feat, and that offense is clearly one that can take a trophy that would otherwise be won by KC. I like Kellen Moore because he is a former QB, has a track record of being a good OC, and think that our team is a natural promotion for a guy who pretty clearly deserves a shot. I don't know enough about Coen to say the same for the rest.

He is announced now, and pete carroll.

Mike Mcfarthy is no longer an option.
McCarthy doesnt have a contract with Cowboys. Cowboys just have exclusive rights to him until the 19th I believe. If he cant work out a deal by then then Bears can talk to him.

I agree with you but the problem is the Bears will be to slow. They gotta interview 15 bums while the Patriots interview Vrabel,Johnson then are making offers. Difference between a no nonsense franchise and a clown show.

Except they have to interview 2 minority candidates as well.

They did already. Leftwich and pep Hamilton. A complete mockery of the rule but they got it out of the way yesterday. They can hire Vrabel today.

I think Saleh would be a great choice. An experienced DC to pair up with a rookie HC. Don’t know if there are any connections between the two coaches though.
They share the same agent, and the pairing makes a ton of sense, especially with the Bears, as they are probably closer to being a winning defense than any other opening.

What a crock of shit. Examples, please?
Matt Nagy. Byron Leftwich, Eric Bienimy, Marc Trestman, Bobby Slowik, there are tons of examples where coaches get hired based on hype.

Meanwhile an obvious good coach like Dave Toub flops in the wind.

How long has Dave Toub been one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL?

Yeah start with a guy who has developed coached and sustained players on a fantastic special teams units year over year rarely gets interviewed.

For a prospective coach looking for a job? Sure, I can buy that. That applies to Chicago's situation now but I don't think it applies to where the Raiders were as a franchise, because they didn't have a QB worth a dime. They are starting over, possibly with Shadeur Sanders at QB (Which I personally want to see so very badly). With regard to Antonio Pierce, it was not about being a leader of men, it was about not giving the future of a rookie QB to a coach that already looks like he doesn't have what it takes to elevate the program. I think that is where it compares well to Chicago, in that the team absolutely should have started over with a new coach this past season.

But being a good coach while you are an HC is about building a program and being in charge of situational football. Not every HC remains a playcaller and has to delegate responsibility, but every HC needs to be on top of using time outs, challenging a ruling, rotating players, going for it on 4th, etc. What we as fans call "a leader of men" I think comes down to how a team's identity becomes shaped by its HC, which is part of building a program that repeats success. Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, Sean McVay, and John Harbaugh all have this quality, and I do not doubt that Dan Campbell has an honest chance at being the next on the list.
If Dan Campbell is so great why does the Lions defense continue to suck?

Uh oh. If vrabel really talks like this then it’s an automatic disqualifier for bears!

This video is everything fun about football meetings. He has the entire room.

Then you think about George and how mad he would be about the F word. Impossible to imagine him in the back of this room laughing and realizing his team is coming together. He wants a corporate setting, well guess what nobody in corporate world gives a shit they do it for money. Sounds like the Bears players to me.
