A god cup of coffee in the morning is a daily highlight. Two pertinent factors:

1. Process - I am a purist and like the flavor of my yuppie-beans fully extracted. The drip-systems and Keurigs are a waste of a good bean.

2.Bean sourcing - this is key, a couple decades ago the "gold standard" was Peet's Coffee, but times have changed. The top (local) ban producers that I purchase are Ritual, Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, Philz, and Sightglass. I was recently offered a cup of drip Dunkin Donuts brew........WTF? I nearly threw up in my mouth, and dumped the cup, how does anyone drink that swill?

I have never tried coffee in my life.

Lips that touch coffee shall never touch mine.

I'm a fan of the French press.

Me too. Makes poor/average coffee taste much better. Sometimes the flavor of the better beans becomes obscured by the concentrations of the press, but al dente I suppose.

Just bought a Bunn for the weekdays. Full pot in 3 minutes. Contains heated water 24/7. AND it was built in Illinois :D Just love it.

I'm not much of a coffee drinker (not a fan of the bitterness most have), but if you're ever in Hawaii make sure you go to the Kona district on the Big Island. Take a tour of a plantation and get a cup that has been freshly processed and roasted; it's a vastly different experience than anything you're likely used to.

Mmmmm...Love Hawaiian coffee. The stuff I get at the store probably pales in comparison to what you mention.

You have 11,000 posts here and I have 7000 and I'm the message board junkie?

You have been on message boards as long as there have been message boards, so yes.

Also, I never claimed to not be a junkie.....

I'm a coffee achiever.

Have a stainless steel french press at home. It's the bomb. Well worth the $95 I paid for it. It's outlasted every other coffee maker I've ever had.

I take mine black with sugar. Not a huge fan of fu fu coffee. When I occasionally get Starbucks or similar it's always black with sugar.

Favorite bean is Cafe Duran from Panama. My in-laws send it to me periodically.

What brand is your press, and from where did you source it?

Curious as to your reference to "fu fu coffee", I'm assuming you are disliking the girly-flavored varietals, rather than the higher-end independent producers/distributors of beans? I mean, Starbucks is like a McDonald's burger and there are many tastier options that are not massively available in retail outlets.

Bodum Columbia 34 oz. The price has dropped since I bought it. I think I bought it directly from Bodum's web site. That $95 price included shipping. Highly recommend it. If it's not hot and/or flavored more than cream and sugar, I'd consider it fu-fu. Not my thing. Give me hot black java, please and thank you.

Edit: Not a huge fan of flavored beans/grinds either (snickerdoodle, vanilla, hazelnut ect....)

There are a couple of store brand coffees I like: the Kroger breakfast blend and Roundy's Colombian (available at Mariano's).

I've been drinking strictly cold brewed coffee lately and today decided to brew a cup with the keurig we have and damn it tasted like shit. I don't even use especially fancy coffee when I cold brew, but damn it tastes so much better than anything that overpriced machine puts out. I'm glad we didn't spend our own money on it.
