Fields wasn’t good when pressured in college. Williams was amazing in 2022 against pressure but awful this year. Not sure why that is.
Trying to do too much. All the time.

Maybe Jordan Addison helped?

Texas beat Alabama by double digits in Tuscaloosa while Michigan had to go to OT. Texas was no joke this year but they don’t beat Michigan. Point 2 is true.
The Alabama team Texas faced wasn't nearly as good as the Alabama team that beat Georgia, and then faced Michigan.
No team is static in how good they are from game one until the last game, some improve, and improve a lot.
Some regress.

Yes that helps but it shouldn’t explain such a precipitous drop off. Maybe as someone said, he was trying to do too much?

Yeah, I do really want to do this.

1) I never said Michigan's conference was all that, what I was saying is Michigan, leading up to this game, had more quality wins than Washington, and it wasn't particularly close. Texas is a big a fake as Washington.

2) Get the **** out of here with your bowl records, it means jack-diddly squat in the transfer portal age of College football. At least an expanded CFL playoff next year will do a large part to remedy that.
1) No they didn't. This is you espousing college football takes again even tho you admittedly don't follow college football.

2) I completely agree

Like another USC QB Matt Lienart? Tape might show some tells or flaws? That is possible

Considering he has been projected as a first round pick for most of the year then yes.
Projected by whom? Media draftniks =/= scouts.

He had Jordan Addison last year ie a 1st round WR taking attention away from the other WRs. His No 1 this year is likely a Day 3 pick at best. That and him probably trying to overcompensate.

After watching that, I'll stick to my position that the long term answer at QB may not be found in this upcoming draft. I want to move on from Fields so I'll go with the consensus and say we should draft Williams and hope that the hype is in fact justified. Looks like Flus is staying and that worries me more than anything!

Still didn't excuse his performance against ND. It was bad.

I saw that, wonder how often he went to the zoo
McCarthy went to Nazareth. No thank you. At least Loyola or Mount Carmel. They had successful players in NFL.

Projected by whom? Media draftniks =/= scouts.

"According to reports last week from NFL scouts, many believe that Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy has the potential to be the best QB in the country, and possibly the first quarterback off the board in 2024," said Breneman. "Some scouts say his arm talent has more upside than any other quarterback they've scouted in next years draft, and that they believe McCarthy can lead Michigan to a national championship and take home the Heisman along the way."

"Although it isn't all that hard to see a scenario where McCarthy eventually plays himself into a first-round selection, it seems like there would have to be a significant improvement in production to see No. 9 go No. 1 overall in 2024."

Lol, so before the season started they were talking about him possibly playing himself into the first with significant improvement, which he didn't have.

Read it again. Not playing himself into the first. Playing himself into being the No 1 pick overall with significant inprovement. Only the 1st paragraph is quoting scouts. The second is quoting the author of article. So scouts were saying he could be the No 1 pick.

Further his YPA, completion % and passer rating all went up so no I dont think these scouts would say he is no longer a first round pick. I would agree no way he should go No 1.

"Although McCarthy's numbers certainly don't jump off the page when compared to guys like Maye and Williams, most believe that it is the result of Michigan's run heavy offense, as opposed to some deficiency in McCarthy's game."

Finally as I said Harbaugh is considered to be holding him back. Michigan ran 200 times more than they passed as Harbaugh conservative.

Reason # 28 why I don't want Harbaugh as Bears coach, even while admitting he's a good coach.

True.

But what QB has never had a bad game?
I agree. Can you see this coaching staff develops young QB into a consistent winner? That's my thought. Bring in new coaching to develop the new QB. That's all I ask. Carolina did it. Now stuck with a lame duck QB with anew coaching staff.
