My proctologist works from home...
At least he says he’s a proctologist.

I agree with your assessment of it all and just think it's common sense based on human nature. People working at home are going to be in lazy mode, not going to feel as bound to their job and feel free to roam while constantly being distracted by other shit.

Have never worked from home. Only know a few that have and, virtually all, to a person, are successful and very happy. I know a business owener who wants his staff to work from home as they don’t pay for rent and other associated costs. Anyone running a successful enterprise knows reasonable work habits and performance expectations.

You generalize that working from home is not effective as working from an office or more traditional workplace and you assume too much. Most businesses are outcome based so if people perform working from home why make them come to work? Modern technology, in many cases, makes the traditional workplace obsolete. So put away your victrola and rotary phone and embrace new workplace expectations and normalities.
