Related news, Alexander Salak has signed a 2 year one-way deal worth $600k/year. Looks like they are giving him a shot as the backup.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I won't annoint the Salak deal as a deal of the century, yet. I'll wait for the end of next year...

...

...

...however, it does look damned, damned good at this point.

Not bad... Add maybe up close to $3.5M for both Frolik and Campoli ($1.75M is my guesstimate for both) and we can still go shopping. I like these results.

Unless a contract is moved, Stosh better be shopping at the local thrift store.

Given a choice, a GM is going to want some cap space to deal during the season or at the deadline. An absolute minimum would be one million. With your Frolik/Campoli figure, a cap of $62 million, and a 22 man roster that leaves about $3 million for 4 roster spots.

Excellent thought there.... Very hard choice, but I know Frolik and Campoli both deserve decent salary, let alone an opportunity to come back. They deserve it.

I could have sworn they both made $1.25M last year. I also might be wrong though since I don't look at capgeek all the time. That's why I thought the $1.75M figure for both would be decent...

Frolik should be above Campoli on the list IMO. Frolik showed some chemistry with Bolland and Bickell in the playoffs and we can only hope it will turn out to be like the Ladd-Bolland-Havlat line.

Surely Campoli is expecting a bump to re-sign. Also I'm looking forward to some Ben Smith this season.

Ben Smith better be up next year. That guy earned a roster spot for sure this playoffs.

I would put money it happens in 4 seasons or less.

With that management they've got down there and their stinginess to spend, there's no way in hell they'll get it in 4 seasons or less. You may want to rescind on that request, because you just might lose.

With that in mind, I assume your statement should also have been purpled?

Absolutely not on the purple.

As far as the purse strings, let's see what gets put on the books this season.

I think the Panthers are going to surprise many.

Only if Ownership opens it's pockets and I'm not sure that's going to happen. Tallon is going to build through youth. Will they allow him to sign/trade for an expensive Vet? Jury is out on that but they didn't allow it last year.

Looks like they're going to be missing Horton judging on his play for the Bruins in the playoffs this year.

I would be dumbfounded it Dale took that position with knowing they are not going to allow $$$ to be spent this season. We will find that out shortly. I agree with Dale building through youth but you know he is going to get a big name or two this offseason. He really has to show their desire to be a serious contender and to prove to the fans of their commitment.

If the wallet is not opened for DT it will be very disappointing to witness and honestly an insult to DT and the fans. Alot of fans are hanging around to see what Dale is going to do and if he is handcuffed, well then, that franchise is really going to struggle IMO.
