When was the last time a goaltender shutout the other team in the Cup clinching game?

Suck it!

Crawford has as good as identical career playoff stats as Quick, a goalie everyone loves to bring up as some super goalie. He now has the same number of Cups too. No MVP yet, but it could be argued he deserved it in 2013. Crawford is a good goalie that knows how to win. And that is absolutely good enough for me. Let the Rask's and King Henrik's take the accolades in the regular season, as Crawford collects championships.

Yeah, Crawford had a great game last night and now has his 2nd cup of his career.

Chris Osgood also has 2 cups as a starter.

Crawford just shut out the top-scoring team in the league to win the cup

Your argument is invalid. :troll:

That's 2 more than Tony Esposito and Eddie Belfour combined as a Hawk :hawkbang:

Crow did his job, but let's not pretend that the defense and forwards weren't saving shots at open cages, and that Tampa wasn't whiffing on one-timers to open cages. They put on mega pressure and only put 25 on net. The last three games were team defensive efforts, some very good goaltending, and a bit of puck luck.

Corey Crawford is now #1 in Blackhawks history for playoff goalie wins.

Why marginalize it?

The same D that hung him out to dry in the Nashville series.
Glad Keith used his superpowers to make Stamkos miss on the breakaway last evening.

I think some people will have the opinion that Crawford is good because of the D in front of him. Some nights you would be correct. But that's the case for all netminders.

Crow is great vs Breakaways, he's better against a breakaway than a quick 3 on 2 situation charging against him like the Hawks were giving up vs Nashville

I could just as well ask "why exaggerate it"? I think I'm putting it in the proper context.
As BHP said, there was ther Stamkos breakaway, as well as the save late that he caught inches above his pad late that was one of the best I've seen this series.

To me it just seems like those that don't like Crawford on the team for whatever reason (not necessarily you) are grasping for any reason to marginalize his play in spite of coming up big in games 5 and 6. Even with the help from the team D he kept everything out including 2 primo chances. Even if the team D stopped everything else in in front of him he not only got the win, but got the shutout.

My opinion of Crow is pretty much the same as when he became the starter: generally solid netminder that gets streaky (which works both ways) with a few irritating attributes. For one, he drops to the butterfly too early too often. It's something that they should work on but seems kind of engrained in him by this point. The other thing that bugs me is he's almost guaranteed to make one uber blonde play a night -- whether it be an inadvisable trip out of the net, leaving the post early/not hugging it properly, or just straight up whiffing on what should be easy saves. I can never tell if it's a concentration thing or if he is just having mini-strokes out there.

That said, they can obviously win with him and pretty much the only reason to even consider moving on from him is his cap hit. But, honestly, it is pretty much on par with his "ranking" amongst goaltenders anyways (his hit is tied for 7th).

That 1.00 save % last evening is all that matters, other than one off game he shut down a very good team under constant pressure.

This just in, Corey Crawford is the only goalie in the league that gets help from his defense.

I included "very good goaltending" in that list of things that happened last night. A lot of other things did, too.

I don't get the irrational defense mechanism that kicks in around here if someone doesn't agree that Crow single handedly carried the team to victory.

Anyone telling yoy Crawford single-handedly carried the team to victory is giving you the full fist. He didn't. He's a part of that vistory just like everyone else and shouldn't be marginalized. In the same vein if he merely "did his job", then the same could be said of every other skater in his salary class

After all, the skaters aren't perfect--to wit:
Crawford has had some great moments, and some really shitty ones...
Toews has had some great moments, and some really shitty ones...
Ketih has had some great moments, and some really shitty ones...
Are both also very true--but I'm not going to marginalize their play by claiming they're expendible or that they can't have an off night.
