I'm sick of Cubs-Sox. MLB, FOX, ESPN was able to milk the shit out of Yankees-Cubs, why not do Mets-Sox. Think of the $$$.

Not going to say that the Cubs deserved to win today, but you guys ought to be thanking Quade for the win. Twice he let Hill bat in key situation down a run, and both times he struck out.

ozzie almost gave you guys the win.

B&B are right on about being annoyed with quade and everyone of his players being called by a nickname.

All in all a pretty good series, would have been better if the Cubs won it.

Good series over all. Would have liked it better if the Cubs could have grabbed another win. But hopefully the Cubbies will take a pair of games at Wrigley in a week or so.

Is it possible that the opposing team actually did something good. Samardzija has only given up 2 runs in his last 9.1 innings.

He has up his game a lot and is a serviceable pitcher now. If he throws strikes.

Indeed. If you look at where he was at the beginning of the season versus where he's at now, he's improved vastly. Unfortunately, it still only makes him decent, at best. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing...

in a non contending year it is ok. but the problem is for the future. the cubs will have to get a descent back up as soto is not reliable.

Or how about this? We get an actual catcher and make Soto his backup?

Yeah, why did they schedule the first installment of the so-called "Crosstown Classic" to be played during the week?

Dont tell that to CO, because according to him he is a beast.

The facts are: he is inconsistent and likes to get ouchy. When he is hot he hot, but I do not see him as an elite catcher. Alot of people like to say "past past past" sure he has had a couple of years where he was good, but not enough of a size to point to him being consistent. He also isnt this young guy, as he is the same age as joe mauer and joe mauer has been consistent pretty much his entire career.

I figured it was to garner better attendance overall since Cubs Sox games sell themselves so no need to put them on the weekend.

If we were both in 1st it wouldn't matter when it was played..

That would automatically ramp up the series.

Soriano is definitely the better overall outfielder, I don't think there is even any questioning that.

Dunn would however fit nicely at 1B for the Cubs.

I would probably make the move only because it fills a hole, and saves money.

Anyone though that thinks Adam Dunn is a better overall outfielder than Soriano is well words can't describe how dumb that person is.

Dunn... who is having his first horrible year or Soriano who has had multiple horrible years?

Not that hard of an answer. No.

You and I must have different definition of horrible years. Soriano's numbers throughout his contract has been this as far as avg/ops/ops+ goes:
2007-.299/.897/122
2008-.280/.876/119
2009-.241/.726/84
2010-.258/.818/111
2011-.271/.826/119

I see one horrible year in his time with the Cubs and that was 2009. Is he earning that 18 million a year? No where close, but to say that he hasn't been productive is flat out wrong.

Here is Dunn's numbers in those same categories this year:
.175/.637/77

Now I would swap Dunn for Soriano in a heartbeat because he is four years younger, and is signed for 4 million less per year during the length of the deal which is the same. I also prefer Dunn's skillset to Soriano's.

Fun topic to debate, but this is pure fantasy.
