Probably not. Decreased mental capacity from seeing my pet attacked as well as defense of property. It depends on whether or not I continued attacking my pet's assailant if they tried to get away (on the assumption that my pet was not preemptively attacking them--which you implied).

Try telling anyone that was in Indonesia around December 26, 2004 that God placed Man above his creation. I seem to recall that Mother earth reminded man on that date (and quite a few others) that we are her *****, not vice versa

I will say this. If I ran in a house fire and heard a baby crying in one direction and a dog barking in the other I would run toward the baby first. If time, I would go back for the dog too.

Honestly for me, I would too if they were both strangers, but if it was an animal I know and love, I would make sure it was saved too, even if it meant taking a few extra seconds to get the baby out of there.

Even if they were both strangers, while I would save the baby first, if the situation presented a choice whereby I could take one option which would definitely save the baby but leave the dog no chance, or another option which would probably save the baby but also allow a good chance of saving the dog, I would take the second option.
