DET got better by signing FA and trading for players. They didnt go the prospect route

They got Miggy by trading their good prospects and they did develop that ace you might have heard of.

Verlander is theres. Agreed.

I would have to look at that 2006 team and see how many players were theres or how many were FA/Trades

Some free agents and some homegrown guys. Again they had some significant pieces they developed from within on that roster with Verlander, Zumaya, Bonderman, Inge, Infante, Granderson, Monroe, Thames, etc.

i see 2 difference makers on that list. Verlander and Granderson. Zumaya was awfully damn good when healthy to

So when does Demp go to Theo and ask to be traded? How many more 6+ IP 2 or less ER can guy pitch? He deserves to win and be on a winner

And that was the issue with the Cubs we don't have those difference makers and the number of guys that can contribute that they had. No one is opposed to using free agency. The issue is that you can't use free agency to build a core for a team.

I didn't know that Cruz was still pitching, and doing well apparently this year. I always liked him. Is stuff was crazy good when he first came up for us.
