I'll check it out when my kid is in bed (dvr the game just in case it got interesting). I checked it out because I was curious and Volstad has the lowest LOB% of any pitcher according to fangraphs. Some of that is ability, but it does suggest that eventual things will even out with Volstad.

thats why i cant live without cub fans! always looking for reasons why someone doesnt suck. so sweet!

Seriously man what on earth am I suppose to say? LOB% has never been shown to be a true ability, but rather something that tends to normalize over the course of season. Volstad's number is ridiculous low right now and his peripherals are actually really good this season. He has the highest K% along with the lowest BB% and HR% in his career. Volstad might really suck, but this is the season to keep trotting him out there to see if the ERA begins to reflect what the other indicators are showing.*

*And yes I've made a very similar argument for Stewart getting continued playing despite the sub Mendoza line batting average.

Just saw the replay...it was about a foot away from being foul, and maybe an inch or two difference between a clean play and a double. Polanco was placed perfectly for the pull. That was a damn hard hit ball. No breaks :(

Please let Brian LaHair stand in left field once July rolls around. Pretty please...

They should trade Soto and teach LaHair how to catch instead. At least then he wouldn't have to actually move

Campana's 7 steals in 9 games is pretty impressive. I wish it meant that he was good at baseball, but it is fun to watch while he maintains a .556 BABIP.
