I highly doubt this bullpen is even the tenth worst bullpen in team history. Bullpens have a lot of volatility, and a few guys settling into roles can change the complexion of it real quick. The bullpen as a whole had actually been pitching well apart from Marmol for a couple weeks now.

I wish bullpen pitchers would just throw whenever the manager tells them to and not worry about "roles". Their role should be to get guys out. That will allow the manager to better leverage them in various situations.

It is going to take a team being successful without a "closer" for that to happen Rice, and it will be a while before we see that. I would say that we might be that team in the future, but given with how well that worked out the first time they tried it in Boston I'm guessing we won't see it here anytime soon.
